I am going to hold off on buying any jackhammers this year. This is just the new ones I have in the packaging. Not to mention all the ones I have opened in a few plano boxes, all the other brands and the tungsten ones. Plus all the minimaxes and other sizes. Sigh

Although I'm very dedicated to a minimalist fishing approach and have my primary bait set chosen, it's never etched in stone. So I feel obligated to test new baits that correspond to my main presentation methods.

So I'm going to use the Geecrack Bellows Stick in 2024. In 2.8" and 3.8".  The 8" size looks spectacular but it's far too large for my ultralight fishing.

These look like they'd be quite good on a Free Rig or Jika, my main presentations. I sometimes do drop shot (so fun! ) and these look like they'd work well here, too.

And I'm a lover of the Chatterbait MiniMax and I think these have a use here, too.

So Geecrack Bellows Stick for me!  Anyone throw this of the regular?

I just picked up a few bags of Chinese finesse worms and am really surprised as to the quality. They seem pretty durable and have a lot of wiggle. Funny enough, each bag is labeled by a different company (Bearking is one- can't remember the others) but there's no doubt that they're the same exact worms in each pack under the different labels. The plan is to try them out tomorrow morning!

Bearking makes high quality stuff. Meredith does too

I haven't thrown them, but I can see how they would work.  I tried hag's tornado's this year and they quickly became one of my favorite worms and they have a similar sounding float and water displacement.  The 5" and 8" have been my most productive.

I saw some shad jumping at one of my newer spots and I think they were a little smaller than I was expecting so one of my new lures for the year is going to be a 2/0 finesse underspin with a 4" easy shiner. I ended up picking up the Scottsboro Tackle Phantom Finesse Underspin but the Picasso Single Barrel also looks like it might be worth trying out. One of my favorite setups is a 6/10 ml xf rod so I've also been looking for other stuff to throw on it besides a drop shot and hoping this one works out...

There was a bogo deal for raid libero's around black friday.  I've already caught a few on them and love the size, blade, hook, and the cold water kick.  Might be something worth checking out.

I need more hooks.  Other than that I don't really need anything, but I haven't been on any tackle websites in a few weeks either so I may need something I haven't thought of.

Good lord. If my math is correct, that’s over $1000 worth of Zman chatterbaits.

You may need to consult mental assistance on this one.

I easily have over 2k in chatterbaits... sigh

Hmmm, lets see. I would like to get two new kayaks this year. Want a new frog rod/heavy junk rod, a light ultra finesse spinning rod for sub 5G presentations. Evergreen kaleido spiderspin. One of the new daiwa certates. I've kind of lost interest in hardbaits for the time being. So as far as lures go mostly softbaits/terminal tackle. I want to get my jig/trailer setup dialed in and want to start learning chatterbaits so different chatterbaits and trailers. I also started BFS recently so would like to try some various BFS worthy baits. Would also like to get a high end ultralight for crappie/creek smallies before the spawn starts.

I’ll be buying 3/4oz jigs. Tried them the other day and loved them.

The trend with last season was if I think I’m going too heavy, go heavier. I think that has a lot to do with where I fish, but I really respect heavy jigs and weights

I am always looking for 3XDs, Mann's baby 1-, and Norman Fat Boys. I have so many but when I find them decently cheap I buy all I can.

I also plan on blowing all of my Cabelas card points on a $$$$ fiberglass rod for 3XDs. Right now it's the St Croix 6'10" medium MOJO Trigon that has my eye.

I haven't bought any tackle this year......but my Sister gave me a $50 BPS gift card.   I'll probably strut in there Tuesday during the rain with my $50 gift card and drop a couple hundred.

I'm sure the bellows stick is great, but have you tried the Grandebass rattlesnakes?  They are fish catching machines and less expensive.

Have not used it...nor have I seen this for sale here.

Thanks for the heads up!

I got a $100 gift card to Cabelas. Gonna be tough to keep my 2024 attainable goal. I give you permission to break yours. Go get a haircut.

Sounds like a good plan!!   I say the same thing all the time, and really want to stick to it, but then I watch a video, talk to a buddy, see a great sale and get STUPID!   I go into the fishing room and say to myself, “How did you get all this crap and how are you ever going to use it all!”   I set my mind to it and within a couple days, I seem to forget.   I hope you make it.  I am still trying.

The only real way to cull the herd is to move to a new region of the country where bass lures and colors change pretty significantly . As an example ,  I moved from the South East to the PNW and the first lures to be culled will be most shad imitating lures - as there are no shad up here .

There are no shad in the Susquehanna River (at least where I live)....but Shad colored lures are killers on Smallmouth around here. I would have a really tough time thinning the herd using your suggested method. Your results may vary, of course.

I would honestly love to purge ALL of it, and then just buy what I know I like, BUT, I wouldn’t know what I liked unless I bought all the stuff and tried it in my area.  So it is kind of a catch -22.  I am also a sucker for good deals and buy too much when I see a deal.  I also buy stuff to “try” when I see good deals.  I need to just stop watching fishing stuff, reading fishing stuff, and then buying fishing stuff, but that is really no fun.  Part of the fun for me is trying stuff and messing around with it.  My buddies also like my addiction as they get to use a lot of stuff for free!!

Recently did this over the course of a couple of years...with tackle and baits.

Was great fun!

Why would you make that move unless you are in the military? PNW is beautiful for 2 months a year and rains constantly the other 10 months.

  Maybe the alternative was MN.
