KVD Speed bags discontinued

Sounds like they are discontinued. What other options do you use to store your soft plastics? Surely there’s a fair bit of non fishing branded options out there.  
 

maybe simple plastic storage from Lowe’s is the way to go

I have 8 of the original speed bags that are a few years old now.

They are not holding up well (bottoms are breaking down)

The 3700 Weekend Series Speedbags were great but for me became less desirable when they removed the 2 handles on top in lieu of one on the side. I like being able to quickly grab 2-3 bags in one hand & throw into truck or boat. Can’t do that with current offering. All to save a buck or two.

i was wondering about the speed bags being discontinued. i picked up like 4 of big worm bags  late last year for $5 a piece at the local surplus store.

 

The local surplus store sells outdoors equipment but, unless it’s walleye tackle.   they usually buy last years tackle from the big stores or wholesale at a heavy discount.

AHHH! NO WAY!  I love them…. Going to stock up on a few extras. They work perfect for me, usually have one with worms, another with tubes and creatures.

I have quite a few speed bags. They’ve held up pretty well so far but I don’t fish nearly as much as @A-Jay so time will tell. I do have a few Bass Mafia Money Bags too. The money bags are nice and seem pretty stout. They’re almost double the price as the speed bag. The one thing I don’t like about the money bag is the yellowing of the clear bag due to the sun. The quality still is there, it’s just my OCD that keeps me from buying more.

The Buzbe Quick Qube is amazing.  They are not cheap, but they are waterproof, tough, have a transparent window.  Try one and you will love them.  they have different sizes.  My fishing partner bought the whole system on a sale.   He brought them in my boat and I was sold on the Qube.   The rest of the system….. eehhhhhh.

I use the Plano 3700 storage boxes without inserts. I use four of them and fill a BPS tackle bag with the boxes as needed. I can get about 25+ bags of senkos in one box.

Now to find a jt what Chinese company makes the cubes. I don’t mean to be negative and love the quality but it seems all of this stuff is just rebranded. For example my new fancy Spro terminal tackle box that I found on Amazon for $16 instead of $25 with the Spro label.

I notice the same and ordered these on Amazon. They are same, as far as I can tell, as the Ryugi R-Tank. The Ryugi runs $25. I got two from Amazon for $16.

I totally agree bud!!   I find a lot of knockoff stuff.  I hope someone makes something of equal quality.   The Buzbe’s are very quality, albeit, expensive.

I love the double wide SpeedBags and have been searching over a year for them to no avail. All I can find is the small size. That doesn't work for me when I categorize bags and have a baitmonkey on the payroll.

I have 2 Tackle bags for 5ea  flat 3600 size boxes plus 2 side poaches and 1 front compartment. Both bags are identical 1 with Cabelas logo and the other Plano logo. Both the bags are over 20 years old and going strong.

I use 1 bag for all my terminal tackle, hooks in 4600, weight is another 4600. All the miscellaneous tools, sun block, attractants, lubes, line conditioner, spare line etc. the other bag gets my lures, worms, jigs, trailers, pork bottles, whatever I plan to use on the outing.

PS, I like to lay the boxes flat. Also have a Albacor back pack that holds 8 ea 3600 boxes used for storage and swapping out boxes in the smaller bags.

I have the black & red large worm file speed bags. Just checked to see if they are available anywhere still. Looks like no. That’s a shame. I have two and same as @A-Jay the bottoms of them are in really rough shape. Super, super handy bags. Great for my kayak and bank fishing endeavors.

so i’m thinking of going this way for my craws and or creature baits.  last couple of years ive just been noticing a lot distorted craws and other body parts.  my only question is for the berkley power bait and maxx scent stuff. the scents infused into the plastic ?  if i put them in the plano type boxes the scent shouldn’t evaporate will it ?

I keep them in original bags. It seems to keep the scent, color and the overall quality of the bait better.

yeah i totally see that.  maybe i’ll use the boxes for smy spine craws and bandito bugs and other craws.

@punchfishing posted about it. I believe they are discontinued but @ajayponitef out Plano had other options. I think I’m going plastic tub with the $1 harmony bags this year. The speed bags were okay but they end up being a maze. I’m going to pair down to less options with more packs in the harmony bags.

 For example. Ten packs of pit bosses in one harmony bag, ten packs of senkos, ten packs of muscle back craws or whatever I go with.

@Bandersnatch Right after posting I realized you’d specifically mentioned the KVD version & not necessarily all Speedbags from Plano. Yeah I’d imagine with KVD’s retirement, much of his product lines will be gone.

6th sense has them and theyre pretty good.   I like the magnum bags.
