2024 fishing license

NJ is $22.50 plus handling fee for calendar year. 
I also need to purchase a PA non-resident yearly for $59. I own a home in both states but don’t qualify as a PA resident 😕

 

And then I also purchase a NY license for $50 good for one year from purchase as I have been doing a week trip to the SLR each year. 

Thankfully the one reservoir I fish on the PA-Maryland boarder accepts either state license. 🙂

I turned 65 this year, so I am officially a senior citizen that is eligible for a $9.53 fishing license in California. . . . provided I can show proof that I live in abject poverty and couldn’t really afford to go fishing. 
 

Otherwise, I get to cough up $61.82 for the basic freshwater license with no additional ‘enhancements’ just like everyone else. 
 

I could spring for the lifetime license for the princely sum of $679.75 . . . . plus $459.25 for the “privilege package” which includes the second rod “privilege” as well as ocean fishing, salmon stickers and other such privileges. 
 

Total cost: $1,138.50 . . . Probably not gonna happen, LOL.

Funny to run into this thread. I just bought my MA sporting license which covers hunting & fishing. With archery stamp & salt water fishing thrown in, ejected $91 from my account….

Mine was $50 until last year. Last year, I was granted 100% disability through the VA. This year, mine is free, and is a lifetime pass. All game (minus duck), all fish species. This is in Alabama.

michigan resident all species ( we used to have 2 licenses one for trout and salmon and 1 for inland non trout water) 17 yrs and older is $26. It is good untill march 31st of the following year.  

 

I believe I can purchase a 2024 license beginning February or March of 2024? but, 2023’s fishing license expires on march 31st 2024.  I usually don’t buy mine untill the end of march.

Oklahoma's isn't too bad.  A lifetime hunting/fishing is only $775.  Annual fishing is $25 and lifetime is $225.  I do the 5 year for $88.  And, since I fish from a motorized kayak, no state boat fees or registration!  

 

However, I do have city boat registration fees to use my kayak in my local lakes.  Plus city fishing permits.  Those run $55 a year ($20 fishing, $35 boating).  And that's a bit high, but if I got angry enough, there are quite a few lakes just outside of city limits that I could fish.  Some are free.  Some have daily fees for both fishing and boating.  And they usually run about $8-15 a day, so that $55 pays for itself after about 7 trips.  So it's not ridiculous.  

 

My only real complaint about the system is they run on the calendar year.  So if you decide you want to go fishing on New Year's Eve, an annual license just lasts for a few hours.  And a daily expires at midnight.  And you can't order ahead of time.  So I have to wait until after January 1st to renew my annual.  Which means I often fish the first week of the year without a license before something, like this thread, reminds me to renew.

Yes - but if you have the original card and have to show it to DNR they will reject it because it doesn't have a hologram 😀

 

I'm kidding, of course. But it reminds me of a time when I had to provide my birth certificate for something and the woman rejected it because it did not have a hologram sticker. Try as I might, I simply could not convince her that those were not available in the 1960's.

WV Resident annual fishing license is valid from 1/1 - 12/31 regardless of date of purchase.

Conservation Stamp - $5

Electronic Issuance Fee (only if you purchase online) - $2

 

Total -$26

 

If fishing for trout you also need to purchase a trout stamp - $10

$25 for a NY state resident license. I can buy it online and print it out. Cheap, and couldn’t be simpler.

In MD, its $20.50 for a non-tidal/freshwater license, and $15.00 for a tidal license to fish the Chesapeake and it's tidal tributaries.

 

For 65 and older, the price drops to $5.00 total for tidal, non-tidal, and trout stamp.

You guys have to start a fund me for my licenses. However my freshwater and trout stamp is now 5 bucks a year in MD. But my PRFC Captains license to guide will cost 590.00 a year plus MD Guide License is 240.00 The Potomac is a hard place to figure out what license is needed. The PRFC license includes tidal recreational license. Recip for VA is free and DC is another 16 bucks.

In Ms. a freshwater/small game licence is just over 12 dollars, my cost when I turned 65 was a one time 5.00 fee that's good until I am no longer around.

If you buy the lifetime fishing license here, you can buy what they actually call a 'privilege package' that includes the second rod validation. This means that you can fish with a second rod at the same time as your original. For example, if you were anchored in one spot fishing for catfish, you could have two of your rods with the line out instead of one.

Yes, but you only have 10,000 lakes to choose from. That must be overwhelming, thus the reason for such a deep discount. 

 

And we do discount the cost of a license for low-income seniors (age 65+) to $9.53, but only if you can prove that there is no way you can afford to go fishing.

We don't have a low-income discount at any age...and note, our 'senior' license starts at 90 years old...not 65...other states I'd be eligible for the senior discount for the 2025 season...here in MN it'll be the 2050 season before I pay less than the standard fee.
