Brushpiles should be key

If I’m not mistaken,  when they do the pre tournament check they also check for saved waypoints which are also banned.

@Tennessee Boy if that’s the case then the local pros in this tournament should have an advantage knowing where the good ones are.Local knowledge is not always always advantageous as we’ve seen before so it’ll be interesting to see how this shakes out.Spotted bass could dominate but some guys will run up the river for big girl largemouth.i fish out of Laurel Park a lot so I expect this to be a good tournament

Local knowledge should be banned. It's unfair to the others competing.

How do you write that rule?  'Any person who has ever lived within 90 miles of the event lake is barred from participating.'?

Dang...you're probably right.  Sorry, TF.  And I consider myself something of a sarcasm semi-pro.

Back in the early tournament days, that exact type rule would often be put into place for some events. Others simply banned “guides,” but the mileage clause was a broader way of eliminating local advantage and seen as a way to encourage and bring in out of state participants.

They’ve done a great job on this tournament.  I’m impressed with the field of anglers and the results.

Agreed ~

And I must admit that when first introduced,

I didn't feel like it would attract the caliber of previously successful bassheads that it has.

Good on those guys.

Really cool.  Some big bags being caught.  Interesting to see some traditionally offshore guys beating some traditionally shallow water guys.

I'd love to see tournament coverage/highlights for this one because people probably up the river in the mud power fishing!

I'm coming armed with a cane pole and a hot dog on a gold hook. It's gonna be a beat down.

New rule for the tournament:

You're only allowed to cast away from the bank to the deep side of the boat and you have to pop your bait every 3 seconds.

It's unfair letting your bait sit in water where fish are obviously going to be!  🙄

Which ones?  The biggest names associated with FFS are not in this tournament.  I've seen this same thing posted various places as a way to stick it in the eye of anyone not praising the glory of FFS... It's a poor troll attempt.

The biggest names in this field of only 47 were at the top before FFS, including the leader, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see them doing well.  In the top 10 there is maybe 1 guy who is newer to the scene and known for FFS talent, but he's also a Lanier local so that also shouldn't be a surprise. There's also quite a few unknown names so who knows of any of them are "scopers" or not?

It doesn't even matter anyway, it's a cool idea for a tournament trail for a bunch of other reasons besides the FFS drama.  I hope it succeeds and the coverage improves.

@Logan S, Chris Johnston is the master of SMB and livescope, he’s leading and his brother is also up there. Then you’ve got palanuik and gussy (who won a classic and another elite scoping a minnow ). Joey cifuentes spent all last season on the elites scoping his way to rookie of the year and winning two tournaments.

And id be willing to bet there are more but I can’t find a list of the competitors or a leaderboard anywhere on the internet except for this thread 😂

Chris Johnston has 6 screens and 4 LiveScope transducers on his boat.  Would love to see a video of his boat check before the tournament.😆

43rd of 47

🙄

(Not meant as a slight to him, he's obviously a top tier angler, just pointing out the trolling)

I don't get it... I hope the trial does well, but lets be real, they only drew 47 anglers...Of which, less than half are 'big' names and most of them probably hit it as a fun pitstop on the way to FL for the next Elite event.  This tournament isn't going to prove anything one way or the other.

@Logan S, I believe it was initially supposed to be touring pros only but not nearly enough signed up so then they let locals in. I think it’s a silly idea, probably based on reading too many internet comments about how a no FFS tourney would be so popular. If it ever actually got big, someone could easily break the rules I would think

also Joey cifuentes was not on top before FFS, he was rookie of the year 2023

I'm aware.  He's been fishing the pro level for at least 7 or 8 years now, with almost half a million in earnings over at FLW/MLF before coming to BASS.

Who you got next? 🤣
