Does anyone but me want to discuss this circuit?  Lots more discussion here about FFS and its place in the world of fishing.  I doubt anyone has, or will, change their opinion.

How about this tournament circuit?  Will it go?  Would you fish it?

Let's have some ideas.  Those you that are anti-FFS, this should be your start.

I wish them luck and I would love to see if there really is that much demand for a low tech tournament trail.

I’d bet big money it won’t.

No.  It would take hours to remove all of the forbidden electronics from my boat.  I fish for fun and a tournament with a $5K entry fee is not for fun.

The pro muskie tour bans it during tournaments but allows them pre fishing.  My understanding is that the transducers must be removed, but the graphs themselves are allowed.

What you'll see most in tournaments with no electronics will be guys fishing every inch of visible cover. I still do it, and lots of guys do it.                 They'll still catch bass, and some big ones too. Might be fun to see how they do fishing old school.

I think guys would use side imaging and mark a ton of offshore stuff, drop dots, and head back and fish.  There has been too much learned about offshore bass to not have people fishing it.

From what I read, it wasn’t set up for the weekend warrior or common man.  Per their own website it is designed for “touring pros”.

I actually like the idea of this tourney and I think it is going in the right direction.  I do think it will be a tough battle, but a $300,000 win is a big draw for some guys.  If you combine pros from all the circuits and take those that want to fish this, you should be able to fill many of the spots.  There are also enough guys fishing with $$$$ that would jump in as well.  I really think it would be good for fishing.

Where are you going to find 200 guys that can afford $5k entry plus expenses that are not already committed somewhere else that would fish this kind of circuit?

If you do the arithmetic, based on a 200 boat field, the payout is $994,000 of of $1,000,000 in entries.  $6,000 won't pay their bills, let alone the buy-out services.

I like the idea of an alternate, electronics limited, circuit, but don't see how this one can succeed.

I think they are doomed to fail.  At this level, like 'em or not, electronics are here to stay.  I would fish a tournament or two on lakes I know really well without them, but not at $5K, and certainly with no practice.

I don't understand the circuit Owner's motivation.  Non-profit, Christian based? Too much money passing through.  Running on heart and dreams.

If you want to see a real old school tournament, go out to YouTube and search "YPC UK Episode 1".  Not bass, but pike and perch.  No electronics.  No boats.  No prize money, just a trophy and bragging rights.  All fishing from the bank.

Admittedly, I'm a bit different (throwing a senko is as high tech as I get), but I really enjoyed watching it.

Here's a local podcast with the founder Allen Brooks if anyone is interested. Lots of info included and clarifies some things.

Hope they don't have any smallmouth events planned up north for midsummer.  How on god's green earth is a guy supposed to catch brownies without staring at screens and drop shotting offshore structure? :Idontknow:

Kyoyo Fujita will not be on board with this format.

I'm pretty sure traditional sonar will still be allowed.

Just following up on this post as their first tournament kicks off April 1st with a ride around.  I made a post earlier in this thread stating "I hope I am categorically wrong on everything I posted above" as I was raising an eyebrow and questioning the authenticity and honesty of this association.

There are some big names participating in this so it will be interesting to see how this association evolves.  I am still raising an eyebrow......until every winning participant is paid.  The ol put your money where your mouth is I suppose.

Reading the rules, I noticed that they aren't even allowed to pre-fish within 14 days of the event either.  Just a 3-4 hour boat ride around the lake the day before.

Some of them are under 50 years of age.  They can’t possibly compete without FFS.😁

How do I watch ?

Short of following these guys around,

I'm not sure there's any type of 'coverage' at all for this first one.

The anglers will be wetting lines here starting today ~

So will it be "nothing new, just an old fashion bass tournament'.

Or "catches were way down, we need the Scope !"

Either way, should be plenty to talk about,

even after Day 1.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the results are with this.  I'm not familiar with Lake Lanier.  It will be interesting to see how anglers fish "the old fashioned way."  Scope wizards be damned.
