GAMEOVER Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Is there an IMX rod out there that has medium/heavy power with a moderate/fast tip. When I do the / thing I dont mean either one but I mean those actual ratings. edit* Has to be 7 feet. Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 1, 2006 Super User Posted December 1, 2006 None that I 'm aware about, the ones I know are fast action. You want it for crankbaits ? If such is the case, lower the power, get a digit 2 rod and it pretty much behaves like a slower action rod. Digit 2 GLoomis rods are quite forgiving, I know it beacuse until Crankbaits rods appeared in the market that 's what I use, reason why I havený purchased a crankbait rod. Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 1, 2006 Super User Posted December 1, 2006 Weeelll, so much for the digit 2, the only 7 ft rod with a 2 digit is the MBR842C, but they only manufacture it in GLX. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 1, 2006 Super User Posted December 1, 2006 Here it is and its The Bomb! G.Loomis IMX PR844C ~$265 Although the blank rating is "4", this a Medium power rod. The Action is rated "fast," but the tip is soft. I have this rod's twin, PR844S in the GLX series. This spinning rod is my favorite rod, period. My next rod will be the same, but a baitcaster. Quote
jayhawkfishin Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I would say the PR845C. Model Length LineWeight Lure Weight Action Power MSRP IMX 7' 10 - 20 1/4 - 3/4 Mod-Fast Med-Heavy $275.00 I have this rod but in GL2 (didn't need sensitivity in a crankin rod). I use this rod for primarily 3/8 oz and bigger crankbaits. This rod can cast a rat-l-trap a mile. Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 1, 2006 Super User Posted December 1, 2006 That 's the catch RW, there 's no IMX with moderate/fast action, all are fast, we know the tips even though rated fast are forgiving. In escence the PBR844 does not fulfill his requirements of an IMX MH rod with a Mod/fast tip. The only rods with those specs are the Crankbait series but they are not IMX. Quote
justtrying Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 RW, i really hope that you'll get a chance to try one of Alpster's, or some other custom builder's, rod when you go to Fork. i really believe, by reading your posts, that you'd appreciate the "small differences" that a split grip, spiral wrapped, loomis would present. ..you'd still have the loomis, but, it'd be lighter, would cast better, & would feel much different (better) retreiving baits. just like you'd like Everybody to try a Stella, just once, i'd like you to try a custom combo one day. (and, hey, you wouldn't have to do like Alpster & sell all your rods, you could just get ReelMech to "mod" yours! Wheeeeeeeeeeeee) ronnie Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 1, 2006 Super User Posted December 1, 2006 I'm shacking up with flechero and plan on fishing with him for most of the trip. I'll probably get to fish a couple of his babies. Ronnie ought to have some of his new spiral wraps finsihed for Lake Fork, too. So, maybe I can fish a couple of custom rods. (I haven't spoken with The Bait Monkey in awhile. He gave me a pass for the rest of '06 after putting up some pretty good numbers last winter. I suspect '07 will involve another conversation with the furry critter!) Quote

I thought I was going to have a new "fleet" by the fork trip but if my blank order doesn't get here soon, I'll be using all my "loaners". ...lol As for the monkey giving you a pass- He and I suspect you will make up for '06, in '07!! ...lol Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 1, 2006 Super User Posted December 1, 2006 The chimp is sitting right here next to me..... He says that when are you going to make up your mind and stop fooling around..... That you NEED an Aaron Martens Megabass rod to fish those Ikas properly..... .... and a TDZ Type R+ 2506 spinning reel...... but he can settle with a Steez Custom 2506. That what he said, I 'm just the messanger. Quote

So, maybe I can fish a couple of custom rods. You can count on it. By then, I will be fishing with all my own builds. Only thing is, they will all have them nasty old Shimano reels on them. ;D Ronnie Quote
Bud Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 they will all have them nasty old Shimano reels on them. Ronnie When fishing with the best don't worry about the rest Quote
