lunkerboss923 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Looking for a rod that can be a multiple use rod for hairjigs, 3" Spark Shad with Okashira Screw Heads, Hazedong Shads with tiny underspins, but primarily a Ned Rig rod with a little versatility. I was looking into the IMX-PRO 831S NRR. I already have an NRX+ 852S JWR. Not looking to break the bank. $350 is about my budget. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 You have enough budget for a custom. If you want to explore options I’m happy to talk with you. 3 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 21, 2023 Super User Posted December 21, 2023 I have the 821S in NRX+ and it's a fantastic rod. Sensitive, light weight, loads well, and so on but it's kind of overkill with braid. For what you mentioned, the IMX would be fine but an 1/8oz head and a 3in Spark Shad would max it out on weight. The tip is really light. Also, I would go with the lightest reel you can. I have mine paired with a Vanquish 2500S. I tried a few reels I had on hand with it when I was waiting for the new Vanquish to come out and none of them felt just right but they were all on the heavier side. 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted December 21, 2023 Super User Posted December 21, 2023 I recommend a custom. That way you can have it built to your exact specifications. Quote
lunkerboss923 Posted December 21, 2023 Author Posted December 21, 2023 This a trade and points deal at American Legacy. Never heard of a custom. Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 21, 2023 Super User Posted December 21, 2023 A custom is a rod blank custom built to the exact requirements you want, reel seat, guides, length etc. Tom 1 Quote

GetFishorDieTryin Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Tatula AGS would make a good ned rod. Quote
ike8120 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 My NED rod is Dobyns FR702SF 7' Med/Light, Fast Action, 6-12# line, 1/8-1/2 oz. There are alot of rods out there now from budget to custom and from inexpensive to break the bank. 1 Quote
Hulkster Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 I wouldn't hesitate to get the imx pro ned rig rod. I have two imx pro rods, the MBR 903C casting and the SJR901 spinning rod and both are amazing. very comfortable handle on the spinning model too. Casts like a dream Quote
Creek Chub 1 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 The shimano Expride light + A version is a great ned rod. Not sure about the newer B version but think it should be fine Quote
lunkerboss923 Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 I think I found it. Shimano Expride B 7'2" Medium Light. The Fury is a good rod for some, I'm wanting sensitivity and a fast tip spongy tip with a decent backbone. Thanks Quote

I got my kid a Champion XP 702SF, it’s the perfect ned rig rod, casts the 1/16oz ned rigs very well. i got the Tatula Elite 7’ Cody Meyer MLF rod as a result. Haven’t fished it yet but it seems like it should do pretty well, definitely not as heavy as my current ML Avid X Quote
