Yesterday, Dec 18th, my wife and I celebrated 42 years of marriage. We didn't have a big wedding. We were married by a justice of the peace, in Kansas City Mo.                         We had a small gathering of friends over after the ceremony. We've been through many ups and downs, good times and some not so good.We we're fortunate that we learned how to work through these things.                                         I've always tried to remember what my dad told me about marriage.         " Marriage is a commitment, and you have to realize that people are only human. We all have good and bad days, and nobody is perfect all the time. Try to make more good days than bad ones, and you'll make it work".                             My mom and dad were married over 50 years.                                           For the married men here, how many years have you been married?

For Nora and I, next June will be 34 years.

My parents are now in an assisted living facility, still sleeping in the same bed - been married for 66 years this past August.

Dang it, I’ll have to go look at the inside of my wedding ring.😂. I’m terrible with dates.  I do know it’s 30 plus years.  I don’t wear my wedding ring because it makes a nasty callous on my finger fishing.  Plus, we wanted really nice wedding rings so mine has diamonds on it and I would hate to lose it or get mugged, so it’s put away for special occasions.

Big Congrats To Mr & Mrs @Mobasser

Made it (somehow) 13 years the first time.

Super fortunate to get it right the 2nd time.

Hitched again in 99 and we're at 24.

42 years for my lovely bride & myself. Heck, I can’t hardly stand putting up with me for 68 years, haven’t got a clue how she does it.❤️

Judging from the list in this thread, you're the winner.  You've been married longer than I've been alive.  Nice work.  Too bad you can't mark your own post as the "solution."

8 years for me this past September.

Women are tougher than men, bottom line.

I also make sure boss-lady gets coffee in bed every day (I'm up before her) and that we go to Disney before tax season every year ... AND fresh flowers once in a while during the winter when our garden's dead.

Lastly: 'shut up, show up, and pay up' works too.

I have been married a year and 8 months. I have been with her 12 years though. We got most the bugs worked out before marriage. I messed up. A lot. When I almost lost her due to myself  it was a wake up call. I put my head down worked on proving myself as well as getting her the engagement ring she always wanted. Two weeks after we got married she said to me” you can get that new boat you want we got married that’s all I wanted” a couple more weeks after that we got a dog which I always wanted. So I have been winning and I tell her everyday how thankful I am for her.

33 years. First 25 was either real good or real bad. The last 8 we’ve learned how to get along. It’s wonderful now !

That’s exactly what happened to me too! I was getting close to buying my boat right when I met her and I could see that my boat money was gonna have to be spent on a ring instead. When I told her that after we got married she felt so bad that she told me to go buy the boat. Deal!
