Now that I’ve got my lews lfs, abu garcia, scorpion mgl, and tatula elite I need another rod since I only have a dobyns kaden medium moderate fast, a cheap medium fast 2 piece for traveling, and a 13 fishing omen black medium heavy moderate fast. What should my next rod be? A medium heavy fast? Mahbe a flipping stick like the 765 flip dobyns fury?

Do you fish heavy cover?  No sense having a flipping stick if you don’t fish heavy cover. Use what you fish and how you fish to guide you.

all that said, if you do fish around grass or wood then a ‘big rod’ is useful and you don’t have anything covering it. Something 3/8-2 oz range rating with a fast action. I love my Amistad for a lot of things in that realm.

Sometimes docks in one of the lakes, and then wood and I have a couple spots with grass. Also thought it would just be good to have since it’s just a medium heavy fast so I could throw a variety of things on it

Are you fishing from a boat?  If you are bank fishing and/or not a tall person some people don't like to flip with a 7'6" rod.  Heck, I'm 6'4 and my 7'6" rod stays on my boat.  I don't take it if I'm bank fishing.

Sounds like you need a good medium heavy fast for jigs/T-rigs. A Fury 734 or Kaden 714 would be perfect. They can throw a lot of different things

yeah, something in the faster action area for bottom contact is where you're missing something. You've got a lot of medium heavies.  I'd still look for a 'heavy'- something that will throw 3/8-1/2 oz plus a chunk of plastic or a similar jig.  I know the falcon lineup and that would be a 6 (lighter heavy) or 7 (true heavy) power rod.  The head turner would be a good choice for you.  Its a heavy, but only rated 1/4-3/4, and with a fast action.  Its only 6'10" but makes a great pitching rod around docks.  It also throws moving baits and topwaters well.

It really depends on what, where , and how you’re fishing. Lure weight range to load and cast the bait, power to land them in the cover. Action, faster for bottom contact, single hook, more moderate for trebles. Length: longer for casting distance and shorter for accuracy.

Yeah true, but I also don’t have a medium heavy fast that I could jigs and Texas rigs so I was looking at something that was a medium heavy as well. I only have one medium heavy moderate fast

I would also like to add that I don’t have many spots currently where I fish very heavy cover. None of it is grass Matts or anything like that. Only one a couple with some Lilly pads and other than that just your average docks wood and grass

How thick is the grass? I can get away with a lot of grass with a MH/F, but that depends how thick it is.

The Dobyns Sierra 735C seems like it might be a good fit for you if you do decide to get a heavy rod. It is still a "heavy" rod but has a little bit less tip so it's good for casting slightly lighter lures like T-Rigs and has the power to get them out still.

I would suggest maybe a spinning rod? Maybe a Kaden KD712SF (ned rigs, light drop shots) or KD713SF (shaky heads, senkos, larger dropshots) would be a good bet.

I agree with Boomstick on the Dobyn's Sierra line. The 735 C is the 7'3" extra heavy.  I'd lean more towards the 7' 704c or 7'3" 734c. Both of those are listed on TW as Heavy.

I really like the Dobyn's Sierra line and they have a tendency to fish light for their rating. So it would be more like a MH+ then a true H in my opinion. I think they are a really good bang for the buck.

Have a look at the head turner then.  Its labeled a heavy, but falcon has two levels of heavvy and the HT is similar to a lot of MH in other rods.

Thanks. Will look at those. I’ve also been looking at the fury series.

The grass is not super thick, I think a medium heavy would be fine. Or maybe a medium heavy + from dobyns since they do run a little light

I’ve also been looking at the tfo tactical series.

Not sure about the Kayden, but I know the 13 MH MF OBs are on the softer side.  What I would recommend is a 7'3 1/4-1oz or a slightly heavier recommended weight range.  Depending what company that you go with it could be a H or a MH.  If you go with MH ExF won't hurt, but if you go with a H I would stick with a F action.

You would want a Dobyns heavy. I'd recommend either a Sierra 734C or Kaden 714C. If you throw more moving baits, go with the Sierra and if you throw more soft plastics, the Kaden.

Looking for one a little cheaper, but thanks for the recommendation

So the Kaden is the full graphite one?

What price are you looking at?  the Head turner comes in at $99 in the bucoo line (called the pitching stick) all the way up to $250 in the Cara lineup.  In between the lowrider at $129 is the value pick for me (i like cork).

They are both graphite. The Kaden has about 2" less tip, which results in less bend but pretty close overall.

In my opinion, both are worth the extra price over the Fury if you can swing it. The Fury is pretty solid for its price point but the problem is so are the Sierra and Kaden.

the lowrider at $129 would be a good choice.  The Expert series comes in at $199 and is a great rod also.  I fish the Expert myself.  I have the pitching stick downstairs and use it for a few things a couple times a year.

Well maybe I’ll get one of each. I didn’t get the Kaden yet actually, was just planning on getting one with my tackle warehouse gift card for my smaller cranks. But I could throw those in my 14 fishing, and one Kaden and one sierra in any model

That's one way to do it.

If you can step up to the Champion XP line, a 744C for jigs, T-Rigs and C-Rigs and a Sierra 734C for moving baits (and maybe an occasional T-Rig) is a pretty good combo as well.

Yeah, just harder to justify that much on a rod. Sounds dumb but you have to work your way up- this is still my first season

So even though the Kaden has moderate fast you think it’s better to get a sierra in the fast action? That’s why I was looking at Kaden for moving baits originally

Yeah but my 13 fishing is rated 3/8 oz plus. It also seems very similar to my friends lews Mach 1 rod, which is a medium heavy fast but rated for 3/16 as the lowest.

If you're looking to throw a crankbait, get the mod fast, absolutely. 735CB for deep divers or square bills in grass, 734CB to bomb cast square bills in open water and moderate divers.

If you're looking for two MH/F rods to essentially pull double duty, I'd go with one Kaden 714C and one Sierra 734C where one will be better for soft plastics and jigs and the other for moving single hook baits like spinnerbaits.
