LonnieP Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Finally going to move up from my 1448 to a bigger boat. Going to go look at a 2016 Tracker 175 TXW tomorrow. It has a 60 hp Mercury on it with 68 hours. I don’t like the trolling motor or electronics on it but I could transfer that stuff from my current boat. Anyone have this boat? Anything I should look for? 1 Quote
Justbass11 Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 I have a 2018 with a 75 hp and love it. It’s perfect for me and the type of fishing I do. You’ll love it. 3 Quote
Super User Bird Posted December 9, 2023 Super User Posted December 9, 2023 I probably see more Trackers on the water then any other boat for a reason....... affordability and functionality. Hope you find the right boat and use it. 4 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 9, 2023 Global Moderator Posted December 9, 2023 From what I’ve seen they’re good boats. They’re a cookie cutter boat and some will say they have bad reviews but they’re the number one selling boat so naturally they’ll have the most bad reviews. The other thing they get a bad rap about is the wood. If you do your research on treated wood and know how wood is actually treated and it’s probably taken care of it’ll be a good boat for decades to come. Good luck! 5 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 I had a 2019 tracker pro 160. Is it the most amazing boat you can buy? No. It is a solid boat. It doesn’t excel in any one particular area but, it does everything well. You have to be realistic with what you want out of it. The decks are probably wood. I’d feel around for soft spots. Look for make shift wiring. It doesn’t sound like it was used to much. If it was stored outside I’d look for any signs animals lived in it. Baring no major issues you should have a great upgrade compared to what You had. 2 Quote
LonnieP Posted December 9, 2023 Author Posted December 9, 2023 Well I pulled the trigger on it pending the test drive next week. 5 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted December 9, 2023 Super User Posted December 9, 2023 Make sure you post some photos in the "show your ride" thread if you end up buying it. 1 Quote
steve carpenter Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Had that boat and liked it. Top speed about 35mph. Think the TM was 55 lbs. Was marginal to control in windy conditions. Dont remember if there was space for another battery. Almost always windy here. 1 Quote
Goldstar225 Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 I had a 1987 Tracker. It served me well for several years. The wood in the front deck didn't need replacement until it was 27 years old. Do check the condition of the wood though. I now have a 2018 PT190 that I've owned since new, 6 years now. I've been very happy with it and it's never disappointed me in any way. Good luck with the 175 that you're looking at. 2 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 @LonnieP how did the test drive go? Quote
Functional Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Little late but I have a 2013 175 TXW (original owner) with a 60hp motor. With a loaded down boat, full gas tank and 4 batteries I can run 34mph (GPS clocked) at WOT on a moderately calm lake. I can squeak out 35 maybe 36 on a glass lake with no wind and not a full tank of gas. I do wish I had the 75hp motor, more so to get out of the hole faster with a passenger but it goes great otherwise. As with most tin boats it does seem to be pushed by the wind somewhat easily, having a good TM and boat position go a long way. The only issue I've had with the boat has been the pedestal seat mounts. For some reason the screw portion of the posts will not catch any threads in the base anymore. Still useable and work fine but just odd. There are also some tricks you can do to seal up the hatches a bit better. If you buy it send me a PM and I'll send you the minor mods I did. 1 Quote
airshot Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 If the boat was maintained properly they are good boats. Tracker's are built for the market, to get mire people on the water, good buy for the buck spent... Neighbor has owned one for many years with no real issues. Some replaced decking and carpet and some wiring upgrades but expected on a 1989 boat. Aluminum boats are much easier to work on than a fiberglass boat !! 3 Quote
