RdmaoRVA Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Lookin for some December tips for fishing the tidal areas below Richmond or any tidal waters for that matter. Where the fish like to hang out and what lures to throw this time of year. My last outing was unsuccessful, I've had a Jerkbait and Jig tied on but finding em has proven difficult, water temps are hovering in the upper 40's. How is everyone adjusting to the colder weather? Johnbt Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 We had snow on the ground and cars in Varina the other night along with 3.7" of rain in the gauge. This is a mile or so from the Henrico County boat landing on the James below Richmond. I've seen one truck recently pulling a boat down Osborne in the direction of the ramps. It was 25*F this morning when I walked the dog. The Parade of LIghts was Saturday night after the toy parade. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 26, 2023 Super User Posted December 26, 2023 Most guys will go for the big catfish east of the I-95 fall line in Richmond down to the mouth of the Chickahominy River. Bass fishing is s-l-o-w when the Historic James River is cold. Be careful. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted December 26, 2023 Super User Posted December 26, 2023 Of the two tidal rivers I fish, the Potomac and the Rappahonock, I would choose the Rappahonock to winter fish. Fortunately for us, we have access to the hot side of lake Anna so, we have transitioned over to that for the winter. Yes, we are spoiled. 😋 1 Quote
