Justbass11 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 So there I am on my board night cleaning my Kvd casting reel, watching a John Wayne movie. I put it all back together, and lo and behold my spool does not move. Anyone have any ideas so why this is happening? I have double checked everything a couple times, and I cannot figure this out, so any ideas would be great. Thank you very much. Quote
garroyo130 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 no movement even with the spool tension cap completely removed? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 1, 2023 Super User Posted December 1, 2023 My guess is you were winging the whole thing and this is the result. Am I close ? A-Jay 1 Quote
RipzLipz Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 @Justbass11 Do you mean the handle won’t turn at all or you can turn the handle & the spool doesn’t turn? Quote
Justbass11 Posted December 1, 2023 Author Posted December 1, 2023 @A-Jay I was not winging it and have watch more then a few videos on how to clean reels 🤓plus I have been cleaning and putting them back without this problem 🤔 I just never had this happen before. @riplips Everything moves but the spool. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 See if the pinion yoke is upside down keeping grit from engaging the spool pin. The spool spins freely with clutch disengaged, correct? 1 Quote
Justbass11 Posted December 1, 2023 Author Posted December 1, 2023 A-jay you’re going to love this one. I feel like an idiot. The good news is I finally found the problem. It is amazing how freely the spool rotates when the line isn’t between the frame and the spool. Amazing I know…🤪 3 Quote

Amazing I know…🤪 I've had that happen to me enough times that now, if there is line on the spool during removal, I use a small piece of tape to secure the end of the line to the spool. A-Jay 2 Quote
