I've watched YouTube videos of anglers on the Susky. It's gorgeous and full of fish.

Too many things to list, but the first couple that popped into my head are...

1: If the water's not hard, it's not too cold for a chatterbait. Thanks @A-Jay.

2: Bass can't survive in water below about 39 degrees because of too much dissolved oxygen. Thanks @WRB. For years I knew my shallow wood flippin bite would completely die at 38 degrees but never knew why. Thanks to Tom, I'll never beat my head against that wall again.

I learned about the rate of the fall, that sometimes it's not the bait but the presentation turning off the bite, and that bass fishing in the winter is an actual thing,

Learned a bunch of random things on here, from little fishing “tweaks” to what I’d normally use in my area, to any and everything in people’s everyday lives all over North America. Like others have said, it’s really cool to get to know others all over the continent, and the planet really, that enjoy bass fishing like myself. I feel like I’ve gained some friendships on here. Even though I’ll likely never meet them in person, it feels like they’re just down the road from me👍🏻

I learned about the bait monkey. I always thought there was some kind of force that made me want to buy more baits, but never thought it was a monkey. I really don't like monkeys - they kinda weird me out. He hath no power on me.    I learned that there are folks out there that are WAY more into fishing than i am. And the reel customization that is available.                I learned that this is my favorite website. Fishing or not.

I like seeing photos of impressive fish whether they are bass or not.  Dinks, not so much.  I have trouble grasping the idea of showing off small fish lol.  I also like the "show your ride" thread but that one doesn't get updated nearly as often.  One thing I've learned recently is that there are a lot of people out there that have almost no restraint or will power when it comes to buying tackle.  Money and items on sale seem to just burn a hole in their pocket.

Plus I need to stay on the hair and attire here because I'm the Haircut and Fashion Police.  Keep it clean, folks. :naughty: :cut:

Sounds to me like you may be earning another title of enforcement…..Dink Police? 😂

I hope not! Pics of dinks remind all of us that we all catch them.

The photo police was defunded in August so probably not unless a new budget is passed. 🫣

I learned that fluorocarbon is the greatest fishing line ever created on planet Earth. Senkos are too expensive and tear too easily. FFS is the devil , and ethanol  gas is good for an antique 2 stroke.

What are some things you've learned since you joined

  • I learned that 80% of the tackle out there is designed to catch fishermen, not fish.
  • This membership is always generous with their advice and experience.
  • @Saltysmalljaws, @Mr. Aquarium, and @Fishing Rhino always whoop my butt when I fish with them.
  • There's always 'one more cast' in hopes of a biggun'.
  • That this is the best fishing forum on the internet.

When I was a kid my Grandfather would occasionally ask me "what have you learned this week?"   I always hated that question.   I've never really kept track of what I've learned.  I'm more of a "you don't know what you don't know, until you know it" kinda person.

I'm sure I've learned plenty here.  There's a bunch of knowledge floating around.

Being the class clown my entire life, I have to answer the question with humor.

I've learned that people actually watch other people fish.  I'm always busy,  if I've got time to watch someone fish......I'm going fishing, instead of watching.

On lures, lines, reels, & rods everyone has their own personal repertoire of confusion that works for them.

On fishing we've had EPIC discussions on

Pre-spawn, spawn, post spawn. Water temperatures barometric pressure.

Dog days of summer, night fishing, new moon vs full moon, Fishing matted grass.

Fall is a little bit of everything.

Winter, slow down & down size or not.

Structure fishing of every kind.

Yeah I kinda like Bassresource!

I've learned that being the big fish in a small pond is more exciting if you don't know your pond is small.

Before finding this site, I was a pretty good bass catcher and knew just about all there was to know.  Now I know I know next to nothing.  And I'm a pretty terrible angler.  Still, I'm better than my friends, family, and most of the people I run into on the water.

I’ve learned a lot here on BR, too much to remember or list.  For this I have to say “thank you” fellow members in making me and my fishing experiences better every time I’m on the water.

I think I was first drawn to this site because being new to the sport I was trying to find the best gear possible within my budget.  Without a doubt information shared by others here on that particular subject helped me immensely but that’s not what improved my fishing the most.

The collective knowledge and lessons learned about things like bass and bait behavior, structure vs cover, presentation, rate of fall, seasonal transitions all that stuff is where I had the most return on investment.  After all even if I have the nicest gear and state of the art lures it doesn’t matter if I’m not throwing them where the fish are.

Not to mention that the people on here are just genuinely fantastic folks, very patient with me and my stupid questions.  Even the times people disagree on here it’s pretty tame compared to the rest of the internet.

The BR site has a good group of members that we can call friends without meeting them face to face and it’s made my life more enjoyable.

This^^^^^  I'm kind of a different character socially. Love the interaction but excel as a loner. I'm much more engaged when I fish alone and lose my edge around others. I'm not presuming on @WRB being like me but what he said reinforces how I value this site.

I realized that I learned something that I practice about every time I go fishing, and that is just because they angler in front of you didn't catch anything in a spot does not mean the bass aren't there.
