ElGuapo928 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 My T-rig grubs are usually Yamamoto or Kalin’s 4” grub on a 1/0 Gamakatsu EWG. I’ve been using the VMC “XL” 1/0 more lately, because I like the longer straight shank. Quote

Super User Log Catcher Posted December 2, 2023 Super User Posted December 2, 2023 The way @RipzLipz has it pictured is close to how I rig mine. I want the end of the hook inside the plastic to protect the knot. That is why the 1/0 EWG size works so well for me. I'm not about to try to rig it with a much bigger hook and try to get the hook point in a little thin plastic tail. Quote
papajoe222 Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 A curly tail grub on a belly weighted hook was my first 'swim bait' I still use that set-up on occasion. I've never used them on a T-rig, but I have used 4in. curly tail worms with good results. 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted December 5, 2023 Super User Posted December 5, 2023 Dont be afraid to Bubba-up on a grub and use heavy lines and heavy weights. Quote
Bazoo Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 I haven't fished a curly tail grub much in the last little while. Yesterday I was fishing a texas rigged lizard, and I was getting small fish nipping at my bait, so I decided to throw on a grub to see if I could get one. The lizards were green pumpkin, and I happened to have some grubs in that color with me. Zoom Fat Albert Grubs in green pumpkin, rigged with a 1/0 Ozark Trails hook, and a 1/16 oz bullet weight. I felt a nibble, then some pressure... Very nice bass with a huge maw! I didn't have any trouble hooking up with the standard gap worm hook. 2 Quote
Bazoo Posted March 23, 2024 Author Posted March 23, 2024 I'm starting to really like Texas rigged grubs. Seems the bass hold the same opinion. 2 Quote
