FG is king. Never had a failure

Neither have I because never tied it on the water and never will. The old and never discussed Blood Knot is the same size and strength and easy to tie.

U in Raleigh?  Im in Apex. Fish Harris and Jordan most the time

I'm in Cary but I typically list Raleigh in Forums since that's more recognizable. I fish Jordan, Harris, and Falls, mostly Jordan these days since I store my new boat on hwy 64. My local fishing buddy and I fish portions PBC tournament trail.

I Saltwater fish out of CB.

I've tied the blood knot but had breaking issues when fishing for redfish. The teeth method makes it really hard to tie the FG on the water. The triangle method in the video makes it a lot easier.

Like all knots the Blood Knot needs to be tied properly so the turns angle the same direction. The Alberto knot is another that can be easily tied on the water. The FG knot is a good knot tied properly but difficult to do on the water in fishing conditions.

If you can tie the FG knot under fishing conduits go for it.

I'm from NC as well, and fish inshore saltwater for reds, trout, flounder, etc. using a lot of the same rods I use for bass fishing.

I'm almost exclusively braid to leader.  Mostly I use FC leaders.  I need leaders for freshwater also.  There's a good population of chain pickerel in my local lake so the FC leaders keep my lures from getting bitten off.

FG knot is all I use.  I've tried many knots over the years... but none have matched the strength and small diameter you get with the FG.  It's a pain to tie when you're learning it but once you do it a few times you get the hang of it.  The only times I've ever had it fail were due to it unraveling without me noticing it.  I think it has happened once or twice over the hundreds of times I've tied it.

I like to finish them with a couple of half hitches that are carefully positioned to cover the leader.  Lately I've been adding a tiny drop of super glue to the very top of the knot where the half hitches are.  It keeps them in place covering the leader, and I've never had one unravel on me since.
