bitman Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Im looking for a crank bait setup. Whats a good reel with a lower gear ratio. Im thinking of a round baitcaster or a low profile but most of them seem to be faster on the retrieve. What do you like to use. Danny Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 27, 2006 Super User Posted November 27, 2006 You will get a wide variety of answers to this question. For deep cranks (15'+) I like a 4.7:1 or lower gear reel,it really helps the fatigue factor to have a slow ratio reel. For all other cranks,I like a 5.1:1. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 27, 2006 Super User Posted November 27, 2006 Maybe a shimano calcuta 50B. I believe it has a 5.0:1 ratio. Quote
bitman Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 I just bought a 5:1.1 from 5basslimit Glad he likes it. I still need a deep cranking reel and rod as I fish as much 15 to 18 foot hydrilla beds as I can find at Amistad. Danny Quote
