MJack Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 I plan on targeting smallmouth and largemouth bass this winter using plastic lures. I’ll be fishing in the river and in ponds or lakes. I think maybe drop shot or split shot might work. I’m sure slow is the name of the game. Any suggestions or advice on technique or lures that work? 1 Quote

Super User Jig Man Posted November 25, 2023 Super User Posted November 25, 2023 I also fish Elaztech worms shaky style all winter long. Sometimes they want the little guy but like yesterday they didn’t and took the worm. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted November 26, 2023 Super User Posted November 26, 2023 I start off by pitching a craw around wood, exposed brush, and submerged grass. If that doesn't work I start going finesse with some Dingers and finesse worms on a split shot rig, or weightless depending on the wind. Quote
PaulVE64 Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 I'm only any help with river smallies but a 4" yum dinger on a split shot rig is known to be a favorite of very large river smallies in my waters. Quote
JN94 Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Any TRD lure and a 3" paddletail. Fished slow as you can along the bottom Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 28, 2023 Global Moderator Posted November 28, 2023 Ned rigs and lightly weighted tubes work well in winter. Quote
