Please help……

It’s too windy & cold to fish here today. I walked in the room to grab my tablet & this is what I saw waiting…..

I tried to ignore this vile creature & just get my tablet to check tomorrow’s forecast in hopes of one more day of fishing. Then this happened…

 

I couldn’t stop it. This creature was completely out of control, spending as much of my money as it could. I wasn’t sure what to do. I begged & pleaded but it wouldn’t listen! Finally I shouted, "Enough!" and the creature paused & began shaking, obviously not pleased with me raising my voice.

 

This dreaded beast was not going to continue irresponsibly spending my hard earned money. I dug in my heels & prepared for the worst as it grew more annoyed with my firm demands that it cease immediately. It slowly approached me, never once looking away. It kept its distance & to my shock & amazement it spoke….

 

"Hey, bruh, if you wanna go, I’ll drop you right here & now! I ain’t scared!" I was about to step forward & I looked over at the toppled monitor & noticed he’d saved 25% on Dobyns rods & that the shipping address was mine. I began to speak in a calmer tone, "I think…..I think….I think that’s a heck of a deal!"

 

We talked through our issues a bit more & I think we’ve been able to come to an understanding. After ordering 2 reels, 2 rods, a dozen Booyah spinnerbaits & 2 Picasso Flashback A-rigs, he collected his shirt & quietly left. Before completely shutting the front door, he said, in a rather knowing but yet snide way, "I’ll see you again around Memorial Day buddy," and closed the door.

 

I’m hoping the weather holds out. I can’t bear another visit from you know who.

I know your pain. Once fishing season comes to an end here, one of the ways I cope with the long, cold winter is by buying fishing tackle. Like you (it seems), I am weak.

Was bored today & knowing many were taking advantage of BF sales, figured I’d try & get a laugh or two out of it.

 

Some of it is due to me passing along my rods & reels to my son. He’s under 30 & is just getting started fishing more seriously. He’s busy with work & kids so I try to help him out but it might just be my twisted way of justifying buying new stuff.🤣

I've got Christmas, vehicle tags, both my kids birthdays, and my wife's birthday all within 2 months while all the big sales are going on. I've got no blood left to give.

Ohhh...you can just 'divest' yourself of the old stuff that's been sitting around...I'll give you my address.

Not the fishing monkey but the gun monkey got me this year. I needed a new barrel and before I knew it I have enough parts for 2 complete uppers on their way.

I’m in need of a new tackle bag. Some storage pockets are past the point of no return - hemostats & needle nose pliers have fallen out more than once. I just hope & pray I don’t end up with a new bag FULL of new baits. 🫨

I didn't.

 

I did, however, end buying an Old Town Sportsman 120 Autopilot.

I've been doing OK with the monkey.  I have no choice, like @Bluebasser86  I've got Christmas, Mrs B's birthday and property taxes on my home, boat, camper and vehicles.   My outboard has 297 hours one it.  I just bought everything for it's 300 hour service, that IMHO that's not "fun" stuff.

I bought one rod, one reel, and a bunch of Keitechs, as well as lots of treble hooks and split rings. One winter day, I'm going to replace the hooks on my most used lures. They've caught a lot of bass, so are scuffed up, but bass don't care, so I don't care. I do want new hooks going into 2024, even though I replaced hooks already several times in 2023.

I still have 63 degree water, but he would not let me leave my laptop.  I may check with State Fish and Game to update myself on the legal times and methods for harvesting that critter.
