I'm sitting here waiting for the temperature to warm up a few degrees before I head out on the lake.

TW is opened in the other browser tab.

It's Black Friday.

Reels are on sale.

This probably won't end well for my bank account.

Do you see a crazy looking monkey anywhere near your property? If so, slowly back away from your PC or device & whatever you do, do not look it in the eyes & do not ever say the words Black Friday in its presence!

Nevermind…I see him sitting outside on my mailbox, staring at my window, grinning & nodding. 🫣🫣🫣

I know the feeling.!! I just bought a couple Stradic FL's with the deal they were offering on Wednesday. $139 for a Stradic FL 2500 was too hard to resist!!

I successfully avoided the Bait Monkey yesterday as I had to run to the store for some chain lube for my pedal kayak and by the time I got back it was time to hit the water.

But today I see that the Old Town Sportsman Autopilot 120 and 136 are 10% off. Have mercy!

Well, that's it. I bought the Old Town Sportsman Autopilot 120. It will be here by the 5th.

Looks like my Seastream Angler pedal drive and some electronics and accessories will be for sale in a few weeks.

The saying, “A fool and his money are soon separated,” does not apply to anglers with a bait monkey. Purchases are mutually beneficial. Trust me.

Love,

Your Bait Monkey 🙉 🙈 🙊

I’ve decided to give my bait monkey a name. I call him Special K. After losing a few bouts with him in my early days of fishing I realized after few times being revived from being knocked out is that there is only one letter that separates money and monkey. I’d take that to the bank.

Congrats @Koz

@RipzLipz

Were you the one who designed that? Way back, I was one of the people who supported the idea of making the bait monkey shirt. Many agreed to buy one and someone made it, and I actually have the shirt. I cannot recall who made drew that image and even made them into shirts.

@islandbass No, I was not. I copied the image on my phone some time ago (probably from here) & text just that image & nothing else to a buddy of mine whenever I’ve "been bitten". He knows what that means. Never knew the backstory - pretty cool. 👍

The important thing about buying that Old Town Sportsman Autopilot 120 isn't what you spent, it's how much you saved. Right?

@GreenPig sounds like you have a well rehearsed plan of action when your wife asks you questions.

@Susky River Rat sounds like you’ve fished those same waters at some point. 🤣

I know you're being tongue in cheek, but that's part of how I justified the purchase! I'm not one to throw money around, and I've been thinking about an Old Town for a year now.

I don't coach baseball anymore, my son is out of the house, and I recently moved into a lakefront house. I've always enjoyed fishing and now I have the opportunity to do it even more.

I also turned 59 the other day and I realize that my life is now on the back 9. I've spent my life taking care of others, and now I'm going to treat myself and take care of me. I'm going to be a bit selfish for a change.

I seriously contemplated buying a boat. In fact, I had planned to buy a Lowe boat in the spring. But for me I think that's too much money and too much maintenance and upkeep and a continuous cash drain.

While I can't make long runs like a boat, I do have a trailer and I can launch at any number of lakes at any number of boat ramps. I can also launch right in my back yard (I have a dock but no boathouse).

I'm not sure I'd ever get my money's worth out of a boat, but I know I will with this kayak. I got more than that out of my last one.

@Koz - Boat is really an acronym for Bust Out Another Thousand.

But now I'm wondering just how long it will be before I decide to add a live targeting system and power poles!

@RipzLipz my wife almost never questions anything I buy fishing related. She knows I spend my money on her, the dog and fishing. I don’t have money to blow on stupid stuff.

@Koz Happy belated birthday!

@Susky River Rat It’s all good brotha - just giving you a little grief. I’m sure she’s a fine lady & you the doggy does exactly as you’re it’s told. Sorry, can’t help myself today. Seriously, sounds like a fine woman. You should be proud.

@Susky River Rat Good deal. I am sorry if I ran it into the ground a bit. I’m a bit of a grown child if you couldn’t tell. I’m happy for the both of you - seriously.  Speaking of fishing, when’s your next outing?

Posted

@RipzLipz probably tomorrow. At a lake to tuck out of the wind and I hate lakes for the most part. I’m a grown child as well. How I made it this far I’ll never know.
