What was the length and girth? Use your line cut to length and a 2nd cut to girth the use this Length x Length x girth divide by 1200 = weight in pounds.

Without knowing length we all use our best wag.

Five to six pounds, but the others will be better at guessing, but listen to Tom(@WRB), who's caught bass that could eat your bass, as well as every "big" bass I've ever caught.

Whatever the weight, it's a heckuva fine fish and wonderfully thick, so congrats!

Looks to be in the 8-10 pound range.  Probably closer to 10.

That said, I used to have a "guess the weight" contest where I posted a photo of the fish, and you had to guess the correct weight in order to be entered for the random drawing to win lures, reels, etc.  So the prizes were good enough for folks to really try to guess an accurate weight.

WOW were they all over the place, and very, very few would be correct. You'd expect a bell-curve-like pattern with the guesses, but nope!  It was random time-after-time, however it usually skewed on the lower side.  Seems pics tend to make fish lose weight.

I think I held 10 or so of those contests and still have the data from them all.  One day I'll post the findings. I think the folks that post a real lunker, only to have Internet warriors claim the fish looks bigger than it is because of (insert reason here) deserve retribution.

To Based on the anglers fingers I estimate this bass is 21” with 17”* girth = 6.24 lbs.

Tom

*80% girth of length.

I’m guessing 6lbs. give or take. I caught one of similar size and held it the same way as you with mouth to one shoulder and let the tail go passed my shoulder. And people told me about 6 lbs too. 👍😎

So hard to guess from pics. So many variables. That said, put me in the around 6# camp.

Beautiful specimen. Congratulations!!!

It could just be the angle, but its mouth looks too small to be any bigger than 6-7 but the girth and length makes it look much bigger.

I agree with Mike. Her head is small. @TheDuke couldn't fit his hand into it. However, her body/belly are big-big-big. She's been feeding well, for sure.

I hope @Glenn posts his weight-guessing numbers someday!

Anybody say b/t 6-7lbs yet? 😁

Never leave home without 1.) Camera and 2.) Scale.....you never know when you're going to catch the fish of a lifetime!

Congrats on Piggie Sue!

5.5-6, short and fat with a small head. Very healthy fish but doesn't look like it has the length to be much bigger than 6.

I know it's time consuming, but I'd love to see something like that again. Get us northerners blood pressure up a bit. Maybe pawn the 'work' off on one of the mods. Maybe one that doesn't fish over the winter.

My guess is closer to 5lb. than 6lb.  Short and fat like I like 'em.

Great proportions, but I think all the ~6lb guesses are the closest. Based on his hands, fish looks right around 20" in length. No way it's a DD (unless we got weights in fish!!)

Maybe around 6 to 6-1/2 lb. That bass has been eating good.
