On the cusp of black friday deals I would like to add a quality multi purpose spinning rod to my arsenal.

As I'm not into BFS, i'm looking for a spinning rod that I can use for finesse hardbaits and bottom contact techniques. Pairing it with a JDM Stradic 2500 HGS and likely 8# sniper.

Thoughts? Other recommendations?

please let me know if you find a BlackFriday deal on a Windbuster.  i already bought a huge roll of wrapping paper, so i can have it under my tree.  unless my wife cant take an obvious hint.

i'll try my 2500 Vanford on it.  and stay with my 20lb braid to leader.  if not, i'll go with a 3000 Kage, or something.

NRX+ 842S would work for small hardbaits and bottom contact as well

If you want to buy from Canada, Peterborough Pro Tackle will have it for 20% off this friday.

I have only held the Wind Buster in hand and it's more of a MH to me. It wouldn't be my first choice for light baits.

Interesting, its power rating is 3.5. MB Med Hvys are around 4.5 to 5 I thought.

My thoughts on it sort line up with what these guys discuss. It was designed as a hard bait rod to throw baits in the 3/8-1/2oz range into the wind but it's so sensitive that it works for bottom contact as well.  So to me, 3/8-1/2oz doesn't really fit the BFS style fishing that I do. I'm more in the 1/16-1/4oz range, which would put me in a lighter rod like the NRX+ 821S NRR or the 842S SJR from Loomis and in Megabass that would be the Whippet or Landsat. In the end I didn't like how the handle felt (just a minor thing) on the Windbuster and I ended up with a NRX but I still may get one in the future.

But if you want to do BFS stuff, there is nothing like it. It is it's own thing to me that is totally different from spinning gear and other regular baitcasters. I use all of them for specific things that I like but catching a 3lb+ smallmouth on 5lb test line on BFS gear is fishing nirvana.
