Super User gim Posted December 3, 2023 Super User Posted December 3, 2023 Michigan isn't exactly lighting up Iowa either. The score should be 3-0. Michigan had a long punt return on special teams otherwise they have been held to 16 yards rushing and 1/7 on third down by the Iowa defense. The issue is that 10 points will likely be all they need because Iowa just can't do anything on offensively. Quote

I’d take Bama out of it because Texas destroyed Bama earlier in the year so Texas over Bama. Quote
GReb Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Finebaum is going to be can’t miss radio Monday when the SEC is left out. Quote
flatcreek Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 FSU should be in.It wasn’t a “down ACC year” ACC beat SEC in head to head regular season matchups 6-4 in 2023 .ACC had a very impressive power 5 win ratio in Power 5 regular season matchups but don’t let these facts get in the way of a Finebaum beauty contest Quote

Head to head record has no bearing on this. It's the entire body of work. Alabama plays a tougher schedule in the SEC, and their resume is better. Looks like they both qualified though, and FSU is the odd team out even though they are 13-0. I think they have a legitimate gripe, even though they do not look that good on paper right now with a backup QB. Apparently the AD at FSU is ready to start a riot lol. He sent a scorched earth letter laced with profanity to the college football playoff committee for excluding the Seminoles. 2 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted December 3, 2023 Super User Posted December 3, 2023 If they leave out FSU it's a joke of a committee, no undefeated power 5 conference winner should be excluded. Then again it's Bama, nobody gets more calls or breaks than Bama. 1 Quote
flatcreek Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 FSU is out not because of strength of schedule but because they were down to 3rd string qb freshman that only taken 4 snaps all year.FSU defense put on a clinic against a strong Louisville offense last night.Defense wins championships they say .That doesn’t fit the narrative this year because they wanted a Bama Texas rematch to possibly happen in the playoffs.Georgia played one of the weakest schedules in the nation the first half of this season and it showed when they played Missouri,Auburn, Ga.Tech and Alabama. 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted December 3, 2023 Super User Posted December 3, 2023 If only Auburn wouldn't have given the game away to Bama. Now I've got to wait even longer for Bama to not win another championship 😡 Quote
flatcreek Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 The Auburn DB should have just tackled the Bama receiver and taken a PI call and forced another play from the penalty. BS call put Bama in position to win the game in the first place Milroe probably going to get exposed for not being all that as a qb in the playoffs 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted December 3, 2023 Super User Posted December 3, 2023 Nobody gets the calls that Alabama gets, year in year out, always the same stuff. Last night there was a 10pt swing when they didn't even look at the trapped pass on 4th down. When Danielson is calling it out, you know it's egregious. Oh well, maybe one day Auburn will have a program again and until then I'll cheer for whoever is playing Bama 😁 1 Quote
flatcreek Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 I have to mute Danielson.Just awful. But like you say he had that on right That one 1 Quote
RipzLipz Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Maybe down year for ACC was a bit strong - they beat one ranked SEC team in those 6 victories & rest were non-contenders in SEC conference alone. 1 ACC team in top 15. Notre Dame excluded since they don’t play full ACC schedule, there’s 3-4 ACC teams in top 25, depending on which poll holds more clout. Not sure what to call it, an average year? Could care less - all opinion & no one can change what’s been decided by committee. All a cash grab, has been for years. Quote
flatcreek Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Nobody knows whose going to be a contender and whose not when they schedule the games they just tee it up and play the games. If they had lost the percentage ratio they would be called weak and when they win they’re called weak. That’s how Finebaum sees it anyhow.FSU got the screws. Was it FSU’s win over LSU that made the committee pick Bama over FSU or Bama’s miracle finish over Auburn? It’s called moving the goalposts.I guess FSU beating Florida was just small beans science it’s ACC over SEC, but flip it around and FSU is trash.iiwii 2 Quote

How this guy remains employed to do the biggest regular season games is beyond me. FSU really did get epically screwed over. I remember how that feels going back to pre CFP 2004 Auburn team who ran the table in the SEC and was left out though. 1 Quote
greentrout Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 The late Great Coach Paul Bear Bryant always believed his team needed to win the eye test to play for the Championship. Alabama did that yesterday. Roll Tide Quote
RipzLipz Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 "CFP committee chairman Boo Corrigan explained the rationale behind the decision to give Alabama the last spot over the Seminoles. "In the eyes of the committee, Florida State is a different team without Jordan Travis," Corrigan said. "One of the things we do consider is player availability. Our job is to rank the best teams, and in the final decision looking at it was Alabama at four and Florida State at five" During the selection show earlier Sunday on ESPN, Corrigan said that the coaches on the committee considered who they would rather face between the Crimson Tide and Seminoles. And the coaches agreed that Alabama was a better team, especially with Florida State missing their star quarterback. Strength of schedule was also a big part of the discussion for the committee. Alabama had four wins over the top 25, and Florida State at three. Alabama had the fifth best strength of schedule, while Florida State's was 55th." "It's a factor, and it's a part of our protocol as we look at it," Corrigan said. "Alabama's strength of schedule was significantly higher than Florida State's."" CFP Top 6 SOS rankings: 1. TX 5. AL 9. WA 44. GA 51. MI 55. FSU Quote
VolFan Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 I both think FSU got scrod AND that Alabama is going to crush Michigan. Washington is really the wildcard in all of this. I think they’re pretty good but it’s hard to trust good on the west coast compare to SEC good… Quote
