The season is on the line for the big ten championship as well as the college playoffs. Who are you picking. Michigan is favored by 3.5 as of today.

The winner will play Iowa in the Big Ten Championship (although whoever it is will be heavily favored against the Hawkeyes).

It's also quite possible that the loser will still make the college football playoff.

I don't have any skin in this game so I'll just go with the home team Wolverines in a close one.

@Mike L I think the game is going to be closer than 42-24. The final score between Michigan & Penn State was 24-15 a 9 point spread. The score between OSU & Penn State was 20-12 an 8 point spread. That's my reasoning for the closer score spread. Go bucs.

Bama vs Auburn @ Auburn this Saturday. Same 'ol rivalry, may be same 'ol score. Again. 😕 Maybe Freeze will pull a rabbit out of his hat

I was going to text you to get you up my house in Maine to help with a little electrical project, but had second thoughts about that...:flame-010:

I think Ohio State could still be ranked high enough to make the college football playoff after the league championships next weekend, depending on what happens with Washington and Florida State.  If Washington and FSU both win, they will keep OSU out of the playoff.  Just my theory.

Iowa might win if the Michigan bus crashes on the way to the game.  That's really their only chance.

Starting next season the Big 10 is removing the "east vs west" division winner thing in the championship game.  They will be selecting the two highest rated teams to play in the final, regardless of division.  My hunch says we are going to see a lot more Michigan-Ohio State games on back to back weeks.

Goodbye Georgia.

Alabama has ended their 29 game win streak with a win in the SEC Championship and earned a berth in the college football playoff.

Assuming Michigan takes care of business against Iowa tonight, I think the 4 teams into the college football playoff are:

Michigan

Washington

Alabama

Ohio State

How can you put Alabama in before Texas when Texas dominated them on their own field?

Texas is in, Alabama is out.

eta:  Also if FSU takes care of business they'll be in.

It'll be

Michigan

Washington

Texas

FSU

I forgot about Florida State.  Good call.

The computer doesn't look at head to head; it calculates the body of work as a whole.

The fact that Texas beat Alabama has nothing to do with it because Alabama's body of work is significantly better playing in the SEC.

Nothing will shock me as far as who is in or out. Committee has made odd choices in the past. They love the SEC, Ohio State & Notre Dame in general, if they’re contenders.

Who’s to say GA falls completely out, if @gimruis is correct? And if they do, OSU could feasibly slip in there because the committee loved them early on when most blowhards felt they weren’t as good as MI. Would GA being an SEC team have a better body of work with 1 loss than an undefeated FSU with a backup QB & playing in a down ACC year?

Will be interesting but some fans somewhere aren’t going to be happy, as usual. Look forward to the playoff expansion but 12 seems a bit much. I have a hard time taking any outside top 6 or 8 as serious contenders these days.

Well assuming that Michigan wins (they are up 10-0 and Iowa can't move the ball as usual), there will be 3 unbeaten teams: Michigan, Washington, and Florida State.  One team with a loss will have to fill that 4th spot.  I think it's Alabama.

But as @RipzLipz stated it could be a bunch of teams, conceivably.  Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, and Texas can probably all make the case for that final spot.

@gimruis…but FSU has to beat UL yet. FSU only up 3-0 2ndQ. Thought I read the FSU backup was questionable this morning so that might play into things more than we think (with committee). Not the same team they were 3 weeks ago by any stretch.

I have no skin in this so doesn’t matter to me. Probably one of the more interesting years as far as who’s in or out since they started the playoffs.

EDIT: FSU starting a freshman so the backup that played last couple of games is out tonight.

I think it’s Washington, Michigan, Alabama & Texas regardless of the FSU outcome. That’s after watching the first half of the FSU game.
