I've always wanted a Shimano Scorpion reel but never pulled the string.  I think my favorite was the 1001xt... but I don't know why.  Maybe because it was the classic burgundy color.  Tell me your favorite Scorpion.

My Scorpion MD 300XG is my favorite and only one I've ever touched. Classic? No idea. But it is special because it's mine.😁

I have a JDM Scorpion 70 that I will never part with. I absolutely love that reel!

I had 2 of the OG Scorpions I purchased new from Brooklyn Bill's tackle shop back in 2002.  Maybe the best caster of any reel I've owned.  I'd buy more in a second if they re-released them.

I never did get used to it. I have an SLX DC and a Curado DC and they both get on my nerves. I can use them for a while, but then the noise starts wearing on me.

I need to break down and just put them on the flea market.

I have five 70XGs and a BFS XG.  (I upgrade to longer handles)

Years ago I had a Scorpion Quickfire. The guy I sold it to still uses it and loves it.

I have several of the 1000XTs which were the JDM equivalent to the Curado 50E. All of them are still in service along with my 50Es. Several have Avail shallow spools and I use them for BFS. All in all these are very versatile reels that I will never part with. I have not had a single problem with any of them.

I have a pair of 'em. Excellent for slinging light baits.

16 years ago I read an article in Bassmaster about guys throwing lighter than usual baits with bait casters. I found a guy in Minnesota to build me a rod and asked him what reel to buy. The rod blank is burgundy so he recommended the Shimano Scorpion 1000 to me. Off to ebay I went and I have loved that reel since the day I got it. Had it cleaned (by DVT) for the first time ever a year ago and it still fishes as well as any reel I own. I got another BFS rod so I bought a new Scorpion for it. Hope it treats me as well as the OG

I've owned several Scorpions and my favorite is the '16 70 with the stock spool swapped out for a Curado 70 MGL spool. Second was the original 1000 with a carbon fiber handle. I tried to love the 50E series. I owned a Chronarch 50E, two Scorp 1000XT's, a Brenious, a Core 50 MG7, and an Aldeberan MG7. Without exception they all felt geary to me and except for the high end magnesium ones felt labored under load. I'm doubtless in the minority.
