So I've been looking for a bass and snakehead setup recently.

I'm going to be using 3/8oz to 1/2oz lures and i'm thinking of getting the Shimano TranX 300 and St. Croix Mojo 7'10ft Heavy 1-4oz and 40lb braid.
I'm worried using these 3/8oz and 1/2oz lighter lures wouldn't let me cast further for the bigger bass and snakeheads, I might also use the setup for inshore. I was thinking about a Tranx200 but the line capacity is a bit small. Anyone got any ideas?

I think you're correct.  That mojo rod would not be a good choice for 3/8-1/2oz lures.  If you absolutely need one rod to handle such a large lure range at an affordable price, here's a suggestion.

I have the Days 702X, and at $135 its a steal.  The Benkei is around a $100 and has good reviews from people on here.  I've thrown swimbaits, jigs, and frogs happily with it.  If you need it to be a one piece, it gets about $65 more expensive due to shipping.

If you’re planning to fish 3/8-1/2 oz lures, why would you want to choose a rod that is intended for 1-4?  Something 3/8-2 is a much better fit to go that light but still have a bunch of backbone. Also, a tranx 200 will hold around 150 yards of braid.

it seems like your leaning more for a big inshore rod instead of a bass rod. If you need to throw a 3oz lure in the surf for something that can spool 150 yards of line then I think that’s a different rod than you’ll want for bass.

i think Tranx200.  i played with one and it feels like a tank./  i plan to buy two for big things..like Amazon Peacocks, and Malaysian Snakeheads.

it is the reel TWO reel repair guys suggested for my travel fishing trips.

I love my Tranx 200, I have it on an ALX Hammer 7'0" heavy power rod, 17lb Armilo mono.  I use it for medium sized swimbaits in the 1-3 oz range, and big spinnerbaits.  It's a very smooth and strong reel.

I bought it for both bass and inshore saltwater fishing.  Inshore I'm using it mostly for throwing Carolina rigs for flounder and drum.  200 size is perfect for the rod I have it on, it's a very versatile combo.

Suggest IROD Gen 3 IRG754F Fred’s Magic stick rated 1/2-2 oz lures, $150. This rod will cast 3/8 oz jigs and 1 1/2 oz deep diving crank baits and swimbaits 2 1/4 oz.

The Tanx 300 is a good choice imo.

Those look nice but since I'm a pretty tall guy I can't stand casting rods with butts shorter than 15", I also know a guy who uses the 7'10 Mojo who casts frogs and he casts them pretty far and well.
