Watauga seems more of a place to need a boat. Im

gonna try to find someone to fish it with eventually. Most of the time when I bank fish I go to the bass pro pond in Bristol 😂

man imma be honest it hasn’t been that bad this go around. Just stuffy really. If I had a boat I probably would’ve fished the whole week 😂

You could even roll by if it’s not too far and observe, I was shocked by how many bank fishermen were there. There have been a few days when I was boating there and wished I wasn’t (waves). I’ve  even seen some videos of SMB bank fishing

Low 18 high 27 in that video, as he says at the start, those are the conditions you want. Rat branch is a decent place to park, they stock there. They also stock at TVA ramp but I’ve seen some methed up looking folks there. Get on a point and near where they stock trout and the bass will come by, some are surprisingly big

Well Sunday was my birthday and made one more effort after talking to him about his bad attitude. After I caught two behind him while he had none. He started it again. The second one was on a jr vision 110 plus one on a medium light phenix m1 casting rod. I asked for the net. His exact words, ”why? It’s only a 2 pounder. If that rod can’t flip boat flip that fish in you shouldn’t be using it” I tried to explain light line medium light rod and jerkbait with light wire trebles and why I would like a net. His response ” well that’s just stupid. I bet that’s a cheap made jerkbait”. I proceeded to boat flip fish. I was exhausted after fighting with Covid all thanksgiving week so I was trying to have some enjoyment on my birthday and finally being able to get back in public, annndddd that’s what I got. Im

done. I lost one more behind that one also on a Spinnerbait and he about had a meltdown. Pulled the plug at about 11:30 and said I was exhausted and ready to go home.

I'm glad you're quitting him. There are so many better fishing buddies out there and as long as you were marooned in that maroon's boat, you'd never find them.

I appreciate it man. Still getting exhausted at work but not nearly as stuffy as I was. Also this year USA bassin has started on my local lake and I’m trying to find a partner for it. I’ve been working closely with the directors trying to promote it. Both of them have partners and had them for years so I understand they’re locked in with their partners. Working on trying to find mine for now. Next year there is a possibility of a cheaper boat in the future. My wife has seen how bad that whole scenario was just absolutely dragging me down. I just don’t understand how people can be like that.

I’ve been hesitant to chime in on this beyond giving you support in hopes he sees the error in his ways. Obviously, that is not going to happen.  I can relate because we have a tight group of fishing friends and we all get along really well.  There was one gent who was what we call a “one upper” no matter what you did, he did it better.  Personality flaw? Sure.  And we were all willing to overlook it.  Problem was, it progressed as time went on.  Bragging online about hunting kills when he was pulling strangers pics off the internet, bragging about fishing catches when he was always by himself.  Still pretty benign but then it got personal.  For some reason he singled me out as the lightening rod for all of his criticisms. He made it very personal and every time I would overlook it and open up to be his friend, he would gut punch me and I could never figure out why.  Ultimately, the group as a whole finally had enough and turned on him every time he personally attacked me and he faded away from the group friendless.  It’s a shame but there are just some people you are not going to change no matter what you do.

I hate that happened to you man. Since moving up here a year ago, one thing I’ve learned is the fishing community is very very tight. So I try to get in where I fit in so to speak. I’ve tried my best to even be this guys friend and it just doesn’t happen. I basically got called dumb by him the other day as well cause I believe in fishing pressure. Hoping for better days next year, they just won’t be around him.

So on the opposite end of the spectrum, last night we were drifting towards a honey hole. My buddy says “man, somehow you always get the big ones right here and I never do.” Next thing you know he’s hooked up to a nice 20” SMB . And I was tickled to see it, bet he’s got more confidence fishing that spot now for the future.

hey man just now reading this cause I got flu after I got Covid 😂. I’m definitely down one day. This next week coming up my family is coming in so I won’t be able to do it then. I’m trying to get my dad to catch his first smallie. I have someone I know that might be bringing him and I but I’m not 100 percent sure yet. My dad was my fishing buddy most the time in south Louisiana and he’s never caught a smallie so figure it’s time 😂

Hope you get to feeling better. I’m off work all next week if you get freed up, if not some weekend day this winter should work fine, Cherokee smallies like it as cold as possible

sounds good man and I really appreciate it. I’m better than I was for sure. Right now just trying to get dad on a smallmouth. Could care less if I catch a fish as long as he gets a smallie 😂

I’ve barely scratched the surface of Cherokee but launched at panther creek state park most of the time and caught fish of some sort in the area.  You can walk the banks for miles when the lake is low as well

I just wanna say I appreciate everyone’s advice in this. And I definitely took it. Things are much smoother now since I moved on. I do wanna say this though. All you guys in the east tn area. The director worked his but off and it finally happened. USA bassin will now have two Boone lake divisions a spring and night and they’re holding an open on Feb 10 followed by an info meeting. You guys offered so much help. I’d love for you guys to come Out for the open and maybe even join the trail. Nothing but love and appreciation for y’all Bassresource guys.

I appreciate the advice man. Everything you’ve said and washed my hands with it. Sometimes it’s best just to walk away

what’s wild is I ain’t heard anything from him since the last trip 😂. Is what it is. I’m genuinely a positive person. And surrounding myself with that just wasn’t good

You made the right move. Bass fishing is hard. We don't need jealous anglers to make it even harder.
