Root Beer/Green

Does anyone know of someone who still makes a decent 4” dropshot worm in a Rootbeer/Green? I was cleaning out the boat this morning and noticed I’m down to 5 whole kut tails, and the nitwits who bought Yamamoto have discontinued it (Discontinued confidence colors are a theme of my life). All I can find are Chompers, which are a decent worm, but I loathe swimming through the garlic butter to get to them.

Is there another manufacturer out there that anyone knows of?

If you find out, let me know.  This is the color I wish every lure company offered in every plastic bait.  I would buy this over even green pumpkin and junebug.

Sometimes companies offer something similar as "pumpkin green" or Pumpkin green pepper". Check out the Big Bite Baits Squirrel-Tail Worm  -- there is a 4.5" and a 6" in "Pumpkin Green pepper."

I’ll check out the Big Bite, thanks!!

I’ve never had any luck with any of the 40,000 green pumpkin variations, and never had much love for Junebug either.

Zoom has several baits in Rootbeer Pepper Green. This has been a good color for LMB and SMB but they don't have a drop shot worm in that color.

I like the Deathadder, but prefer a slimmer profile.

One of these days I’m just going to have to learn to do handpours, and specialize in forgotten/no longer trendy colors.

Bass pro makes an Amistad Gold cut tail that is fairly close, but a little more translucent and has gold flake in addition to the green. Has done work for me outside of dropshot techniques. Rootbeer Green is one of those colors nobody talks about much but has been nails for me this year. I've been a bit quieter about the colors I've been using and I just about had an infarction when I saw this thread title LOL

I’ll check out the BPS one. The Chompers’ color is dead on…..but I can’t stand the bag full of garlic slime.

This has been one of my go to colors for years, I’d kill to get firecracker, smoke sparkle, and a decent smoke/purple as well.

my favorite smoke/purple flake is a bruiser mcminnow. Works double duty as both dropshot and an excellent chatterbait micro/minimax trailer.

The Amistad Gold bass pro worm has the 8up on it but it's comparable to handling a zoom product, not nearly as bad as the garlic. Because of the extra translucence and gold flake it carries a bit more gold with it, but that green and gold combo seems to do ... things

I thought Z-man had such a color in their Finesse WormZ?

I know they had a specific rootbeer in their Trout trick..but it had a chartreuse on the tail tip.

Try Mayo baits. Custom pour company. Select your base color and up to three fleck colors. Bryan is quite accommodating and tries to please. I have ordered a half dozen times.

Thanks for the help! I ordered some of the BPS worms last night (best price I’ve seen since the days of the “worm bar”), and working on a list for Mayo.

I didn’t know there were any commercial custom pours anymore, I thought they went the way of the dodo.

Found another "hidden" one:  While Zoom makes a number of baits in "rootbeer pepper green", they do not appear to have it available for worms.....However! Zoom does offer some worms in a color called "Gourd Green" which, if anything, to my eye looks closer to the Yamamoto "rootbeer green".  The 6.5" trick worm, 4.5" finesse worm, 6" lizard, as well as a few other baits are available in Gourd Green.

Strike king also has two similar colors I know about, although I don't see it offered for any of the worms: The Rage Craw comes in an "Amber green", and the KVD perfect plastics Game Hawg is available in "Amistad Special".

That Amistad special doesn't catch fish at all. Nope, not at all. Never. Not one. Better send them to me for safe disposal

That gourd green looks like a winner as well.

Can confirm -- absolutely terrible color. Bass see it, they turn around immediately and swim the other direction.  Might even be toxic, so better off not having it at all.

Zoom has color called Rootbeer now. The have the Finesse Worm and Trick Worm in that color. Problem is I can only find them at a place we aren't allowed to mention on here.

@Log Catcher I believe I know what site you speak of. It is a winter wonderland for zoom products. I am in giant bait monkey danger whenever I visit there

I do believe I know this place as well, and yup, they got the worms.

Check out a site called 99 Strikes. They sell out of everything quick. If you're not in a hurry, they have a rootbeer color that is mind blowing. I have had good luck with their stick worms and the Diamond Tail worms but they are pricey. They do have sales and coupons from time to time. Also, check out a color called Voodo. If you want something specific and like what they have, I would email them.

I see you have a solution to your inquiry. For future reference Artifishail-Flutter Craft has finesse worms you are looking for and pours custom colors to match your samples for approx $15 per 50. (858/395.0198 Frank Pasalich).

Tom

PS curl tail you can cut to make a cut tail.

Thanks all! I’ll be spending a few bucks pretty much all around and restocking the arsenal.
