jayhawkfishin Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Citica 100 http://cgi.ebay.com/Shimano-Citica-100DSV-New-in-Box-06-Free-Shipping_W0QQitemZ140054626691QQihZ004QQcategoryZ36146QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I have not had to pleasure of use one yet but i have the 200D. I think the 100 size shimano is the perfect size for bass fishing and is a great reel. For $100 I can't think of a better reel. I don't think cabelas has the citica 100 yet, but fell the curado 100d and the citica will be the same size. Quote
mike bat Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 well you have a tough one there ... heres the problem ,, your asking about 2 reels that have just came out ..... bottom line they havent been around long enough ..... i hear a few muskie guys here where useing the big record and liked the reel, but the reels olny where able to make 1 year before needing to be replaced ..... and bolth guys replaced them with the calcuttas .... now that doesnt say anything about bassin ,, but it makes me wonder a little ..... so just be careful , and truthfully go check out all the reels before you decide what you want .... even if its a brand your not fond of ... just pick it up see how it fits in your hand , and reel it a few times , check the drags ,and line caps and retrive speeds ... and after you do this you should have a good ideal of what you want .... ohh and remember you will have to fish that reel ,, so get a good one it will save you in the long run .... ;D good luck Quote
Super User Alpster Posted November 23, 2006 Super User Posted November 23, 2006 Hey Muddy, You will see when we go to Fork, that I am a Shimanoholic. For Bass fishing I use them exclusively. However I have 3 reels made by ABU Garcia a 5000WS, 6000 (used to be my flippin reel) and a 5600DS. I use them for carp & catfishing these days. These reels are bullet proof and for the $ they are very hard to beat. I could easily recomend 4000 and 5000 series reels, they have a track record 100 miles long. The Revo and Record reels have not been around so long. My gut feeling is, Ambassadeur makes a good product and you won't be dissapointed, no matter which you choose. JMHO Ronnie Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted November 23, 2006 Super User Posted November 23, 2006 HEY MUDDY, I GOT A RECORD RCN-40 IN JULY AND I LOVE IT. IT CASTS GREAT. REELS VERY SMOOTH. I'M GOING TO GET ANOTHER IN THE SPRING. I'M WITH YOU ON THE ABU'S, I HAVE QUITE A COLLECTION, THEY HAVE SERVED ME FLAWLESSY. I STICK WITH SUCCESS. IF YOU HAVE ANY PARTICULAR QUESTIONS PM ME. justfishin Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 For 10-12# test in a baitcaster a Curado is my no. 1 choice. For line above those sizes, all in all, I love my Abu Garcia 5600's. I have had the same four AG for over ten years and the older they get, the better. I did buy a C-4 that I love as well simply because of the 6:3/1 gear ratio for buzzbaits. Quote

Super User flechero Posted November 24, 2006 Super User Posted November 24, 2006 Muddy, I bought a Revo S about a month ago. (I actually wanted the STX but Academy only had that one in the high speed model) I had the money burning a hole in the pocket so I figured I would try out the S model. So far I have nothing but praise for it. Keep in mind that I'm also fishing with several 50MG's and a TD-Z BBS, so the Revo has tough very competition, even for a field test. I haven't caught anything big on it yet so no comments on the smoothness of drag other then it seems nice & smooth in hand. Mine is great and I'm actually happy I bought the S intstead of the STX, even though I haven't fished an STX. ...lol From what I have read about the records, I don't think you can make a mistake in purchasing either one of these.
