EdFromWI Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I’m in the market for a budget rod. Wondering if any of you Croix guys know or have noticed if the action of a BassX is faster than the Triumph series. I am a big fan if the multispecies action of St. Croix rods. Wanted to make sure the BassX, while marketed to bass anglers, isnt too drastically different. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 F on a Bass x should be the same as a Triumph, however the MOJO line is also on clearance if you swing a few more $ it's a more sensitive rod. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted November 10, 2023 Super User Posted November 10, 2023 I'd echo the previous model Mojo recommendation - grab what you can now...some places have them for $100...which is less than a Bass-X. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 10, 2023 Super User Posted November 10, 2023 It's pretty much the same. 1 Quote
r83srock Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I agree that the actions are the same. The triumphs are a bit softer in power in my experience, maybe a half power less. Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I don't have any BassX rods to compare, mainly because I always thought they felt cheap in the hand and don't like the feel of the handles. They just feel like cheap plastic to me. I agree with others above,.... that if you are looking for a budget St Croix rod, grab one of the Mojo rods being clearanced out. No brainer in my opinion, the Mojo is a nicer rod than the BassX, and probably cheaper right now, I saw them at Cabelas for $119. Quote

I would second this, the Mojo Bass is a far superior rod if you can swing it or find a deal. Quote
