Popular Post Firstoutfisher Posted November 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2023 Caught my first jig fish tonight and it also happened to be my PB. I didn't have a scale but I think it was between 4-5lbs. I know for most people that isn't huge but I was super excited. Don't have any fishing friends and wanted somewhere to share my catch. The feeling of the jig bite was so much better than getting bit on a moving bait! It was a 1/4OZ keitech finesse football with a 3" hazedong shad as trailer btw. That combination happened to be pure luck because it is all I had left in my bag. Also just want to say I usually don't let fish touch the ground and get them back in the water as fast as possible but I really wanted a picture of this one as a reference. 43 Quote

thediscochef Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Congrats on the PB! That's a fish I'd be happy to pull any day Quote
einscodek Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Nothing like catching a good fish on a lure to give you confidence in it. Jigs can catch big fish. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 10, 2023 Super User Posted November 10, 2023 No pun intended...ya be hooked on jigs! Nice 😉 1 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Awesome fish! Welcome to the jigging side. Jigging is a way of life for some of us. Not that we don’t use other stuff but, some kind of soft plastic on a jig head seems to be what we use most. Quote
Pat Brown Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Congratulations and stick with it! Jig season just getting started! Jigs are FUN and they catch toads! 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣 1 Quote
GRiver Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Congratulations @Firstoutfisher Nice fish, you, I seen a lot of fall leaves on the ground, what the temp there now? Were you swimming the jig, or bouncing on bottom? Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted November 10, 2023 Super User Posted November 10, 2023 Congrats on the new PB. Quote
FishTax Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Congrats! I love a good jig bite, one of my favorite lures! Quote

We got hit by a cold snap and water visibility was less than 1'. I let it hit bottom, dragged it then hopped it over cover whenever I hit it. 3 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted November 10, 2023 Super User Posted November 10, 2023 Good job, my man! Now you have a ton of fishing friends-people that are downright fanatical about it, actually. I'm the same about sharing my good catches here. Not many people I know really care. I'm a firm believer that if you can get a bait in front of a big gal she'll bite more often than not. I think bait selection is secondary to other factors. The trick is getting it presented to the right fish. 1 Quote

That would make nearly all of us super-excited and if it didn't, I pity that angler. Those four-to-five pounders are strong! 2 Quote

RipzLipz Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Great job! My favorite bait from ice-out to spawn is a jig & craw or Rage Bug trailer. Give it a shot when the gals are fat & chewing early in the year. You shouldn’t be disappointed. 🤘 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted November 19, 2023 Super User Posted November 19, 2023 Excellent. That jig bite feeling, is super addictive so be careful. 1 Quote
