Awesome fish! Welcome to the jigging side. Jigging is a way of life for some of us. Not that we don’t use other stuff but, some kind of soft plastic on a jig head seems to be what we use most.

Congratulations and stick with it!  Jig season just getting started!

Jigs are FUN and they catch toads!

Congratulations @Firstoutfisher

Nice fish, you, I seen a lot of fall leaves on the ground, what the temp there now?   Were you swimming the jig, or bouncing on bottom?

Water temp was right around 60 degrees. It was in the 80s all last week and water was crystal clear. We got hit by a cold snap and water visibility was less than 1'. I let it hit bottom, dragged it then hopped it over cover whenever I hit it.

Good job, my man! Now you have a ton of fishing friends-people that are downright fanatical about it, actually. I'm the same about sharing my good catches here. Not many people I know really care.

I'm a firm believer that if you can get a bait in front of a big gal she'll bite more often than not. I think bait selection is secondary to other factors. The trick is getting it presented to the right fish.

Don't have any fishing friends and wanted somewhere to share my catch.

Congratulations!

between 4-5lbs. I know for most people that isn't huge but I was super excited.

That would make nearly all of us super-excited and if it didn't, I pity that angler. Those four-to-five pounders are strong!

Great job! My favorite bait from ice-out to spawn is a jig & craw or Rage Bug trailer. Give it a shot when the gals are fat & chewing early in the year. You shouldn’t be disappointed. 🤘

Excellent. That jig bite feeling, is super addictive so be careful.
