Super User Darth-Baiter Posted November 6, 2023 Super User Posted November 6, 2023 the insulated food cup. my old one is discontinued. it is a Stanley. beat up but it works still. it works OKAY at best. after about 5 hours, my hot food is just warm enough to make me feel safe that I am not getting food poisoned. it isn't hot anymore. winter is coming, and out on a kayak, fishing...I love me a hot meal. usually a hot rice bowl, like Japanese curry over rice. my cup is okay, again..but I can't help wonder if 15 years later, technology makes a new one that is badtothebone. my coworker has the one I pictured below, but it keeps food warm like a paper bag. but leakproof and easy to clean are top marks. any ideas? RRocket Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Stanley still makes excellent food jars! Can't go wrong. If you're looking for something different, I can confirm Zojirushi (Japan) makes excellent vacuum sealed, insulated containers. Their coffee tumblers often come out tops in comparos. Unreal how long liquids stay extremely hot in them. It's all we use. Also have a couple of the vacuum sealed, insulated food jars..including a really cute Hello Kitty patterned one. You can get them up to 25 ounces, I believe. I don't find the opening particularly large (2.5"), but this hasn't prevented me from stuffing my face yet! It you like the integral cup like many Stanley's have, this isn't for you. No cup. Zojirushi Steel Food Jar, 25-Ounce, Black/Stainless https://a.co/d/0o3ZSlz However, they do have a line of really functional vacuum and insulated Bento containers. Soup bowl, rice container and room temp container at top. Very slick. They have several sizes. Zojirushi SL-XE20AD Classic Stainless Insulated Lunch Jar, 50 oz., Navy https://a.co/d/9NMG9pl Their Micom rice cookers and bread machines are known as the best in the world too. They seem to make quality stuff. Have not been disappointed yet their products. Just thought I'd share. 1 Quote

ElGuapo928 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I’ve had really good luck with the Ozark Trail ones from Wally World…I put them through all sorts of abuse and they still last a good while. As long as I preheat with boiling water, my lunch will be warm for 6-7 hours. 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 7, 2023 Global Moderator Posted November 7, 2023 We have two of the ones in the picture and they keep food piping hot? Some are better than others even of the same models. My Stanley keeps coffee super hot, my buddy got the same one and it doesn’t Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted November 7, 2023 Super User Posted November 7, 2023 Hot food on the boat? Never heard of such a thing. 😂 My boat food is simply something to keep me fueled for 1/2 a day. My boat food is all required to be un heated or un refrigerated. I don’t even take hot coffee. My coffee is hot all the way to the ramp and after that it’s water only. I have to force myself to stop and eat whatever I bring so it’s usually crackers and Vienna sausages, crustables, foil tuna packs, lunchables, or maybe a sandwich if I was feeling creative the night before. 🤣 Quote
padlin Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Not a lot of stuff goes up in quality as the years go by, usually the opposite. Quote

MAN Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Our lunch on the boat is whatever the closest quickie mart to the boat ramp has. And by the time we get around to eating it you can see through the paper bag. I probably need to look into one of these Stanley food bowls though as I am looking to attempt to be a healthier person.
