ohhey Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 I ordered a Fury 735C but received a Fury 705CB by mistake (on their part). I already have an OG Tatula 701MRB that's used for jerkbaits, 1/4oz and 1/2oz red eye shads, traps, and KVD 1.5 squarebills. Will the 705CB do any of those things better? I have my doubts and am planning to send it back but figured I'd ask the hive mind for any insights first. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted November 3, 2023 Super User Posted November 3, 2023 Fury 705CB makes a great spinner/chatter rod. 1 Quote
Big Hands Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Something for your inner bait monkey to grind on . . . . It could very well be redundant to some extent. With that said, depending on your style and habits, that's not necessarily a bad thing. I have some rods that are fairly similar, but they are for techniques where I might want to be rigged and ready for that would utilize similar rigs. That saves me from either frequently changing baits, or not fishing one of them because I don't want to keep switching back and forth. 1 Quote

Possibly, but I already have 2 maybe even 3 rods that do spinnerbaits and chatterbaits well, including 1 I just bought with that focus in mind. 12 hours ago, Big Hands said: Something for your inner bait monkey to grind on . . . . This was the only thing my bait monkey addict mind could come up with. There are times of year where I like to use both jerkbaits and lipless (early and late season), and sometimes they seem to be the only presentations getting bit so having both tied on and ready could be nice. All that said, I decided to send it back, but I appreciate the input (enablers, the lot of you!). 3 Quote

Super User BrianMDTX Posted November 4, 2023 Super User Posted November 4, 2023 I really like my 705CB for squarebills and Whopper Ploppers (and other topwater poppers). Redundancy can be good if you have several rigs ready to go with different baits. 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 6, 2023 Super User Posted November 6, 2023 A little redundancy might not be bad so you can have two things rigged at the same time. 1 Quote

Agreed, the thing that pushed me to send it back was I think I'd like to try something glass/composite for a 7' range shallow crank rod next so that the overlap isn't perfect, and I don't own anything with glass at the moment.
