PTasker15 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Anyone own this rod on here? Reviews seem scarce. I plan to make a trip to Academy soon to see how it feels in my hand compared to a Dobyn's Mav. Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted November 2, 2023 Super User Posted November 2, 2023 A friend has the 7'4"MHF and 7'2"MHM. I preferred the 7'4", so I'm getting that one next as I prefer crisper rods, but both felt good to me. I like their reel seat, which is the same one used on the Omen Black 2s. I have 9 of those and they've been totally dependable over the past 5 years, and I fish brutally choked out water. I'm amazed I haven't broken one yet. 2 Quote

I wish they still made a casting omen on their site. I'd really like to try their envy 3 someday. I also plan to buy the Saltwater Omen and use the XXH for freshwater big fish like cats and gar. Super User GetFishorDieTryin Posted November 3, 2023 Super User Posted November 3, 2023 I've gotten to handle them. They're not bad but they're a little weighty. The reel seat is nice for the money, it doesn't an exposed blank, but I doubt it will effect sensitivity much. I don't know that I could buy a Meta over a Tatula or Invoker Tour. I have an OB3s and a Muse Black both are fished hard. Both are good but I think the Muse is outstanding. I like how 13 doesn't skimp on guides and they do actions well. 13 has excellent customer service, if you break a rod they replace it np. Quote

I'm getting the Meta instead of another Ark Essence even though I'd rather have the cork handle. 13 minutes ago, GetFishorDieTryin said: I like how 13 doesn't skimp on guides and they do actions well. If I send an email during business hours, I often get a response within 30 minutes to a couple hours, which is great. Also, they offer lengthy warranties for even their cheaper stuff, which makes me feel a bit safer. I already planned to buy a Omen Gold 7'2 Medium Light for finesse so will leave a review here when I do. If I like it, I plan to add a Concept A2 G3, Omen Gold Panfish, and/or a Meta to my arsenal. Agreed. Yeah, the Essence is an oddball. Once you get to 150$ and up Ark has trouble competing with the competition. I really like my Essence, but I got for much cheaper then msrp, 130$ I think which is a good deal. I feel like a guide train upgrade would cut some weight and IO look a nicer when compared with the clunky look of the fazlites. 13 was actually coming out with a 180$ PP rod (widow maker, i think) which looked great but it just vanished from the internet. It was essentially a Meta with some improvements. It was supposed to be out next spring, but they may have dropped it. Quote

TW had it listed with a release date of Feb or March '24, but then it disappeared. 20 minutes ago, GetFishorDieTryin said: I really like my Essence, but I got for much cheaper then msrp, 130$ I think which is a good deal. ElGuapo928 Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 I haven’t tried the Meta yet, but am very happy with the Muse, Fate and Blackouts that I have. IMO the 13 rods punch well above their price point. 1 Quote

Does your friend by chance use the 7'2 MHM for chatterbaits? I've been thinking about getting that Meta for CBs and wondering how it would work. I think they recommend the 7'4 glass as the CB rod but I was wanting to stick with graphite. On a side note: I've been using a defy silver spinning rod for crappie and bass this fall and it's been amazing. I picked up the 7' Light 2 PC on clearance for $36. So I've been interested in picking up more 13 fishing rods. Quote

msgf91 Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Thanks for the response. Sounds good for what I was looking for Quote

Has anyone went to look up 13 fishing's website lately? I think I figured out why the new widow maker rods disappeared. 13 fishing shows up under Rapala now. I guess they bought them. Quote

Many rods, reels, and lures have been discontinued. My biggest disappointment was the loss of the Envy series which is a very sexy rod. Quote
