As I mentioned on my other post, I'm really getting into jigging for the first time. I'm starting to figure out what colors I like and sizes and all that stuff but there is information overload. Just curious as I am looking to find my most efficient jig storage containers. I am also wondering if you guys bother to tag or label them? So far I have the little tag they come with cut off so I can see the size, style, color, brand, etc, and I just dropped that into the little slot with the jig. It doesn't actually work all that well but that's all I got. My worry is that as I'm trying out stuff I find I really like one then lose it but I have no idea what to reorder. Is this just a waste of time? It sure would be a lot easier to not label them.

I have all my Plano boxes labeled….. they fit in my tackle bag hinge down. So I put labels on the edge, jigs, topwater , etc. ..

Like Mr River - I label all my boxes. General lure type on the outside, specifics on the back wall of each compartment - Manufacturer, Model, Weight, Hook size - ya, I keep my Strike Kings separate from my Siebert's even if they're both 3/8oz Swim Jigs.

Boxes are labeled on one end for Bass Trek's storage compartments, and on the latch edge if I'm shore fishing and they're in my bag.

My memory sucks so I label everything. Jigs, cranks, terminal tackle by type, size, and weight.

Jigs are kept in a Plano box, separated by weight and color. Heaviest at the hinge of the box, moving to lightest. Also by type. Arky, football, ballhead......

Roger that. I could see using a sharpie on reg Plano boxes but how do you all do it for jig boxes like the edge one or the other style where they're all in a v shaped row?

Just asking because those style are so much more efficient that seemingly impossible to label.

I don't have a Jig box - but what I'd do is label the cover over the jigs.

Myself - I use plain Pro-Latch 3700s and 3701s for my lures, then a Brother P-Touch label-maker.

I have Plano boxes labeled " Jigs "  but 90% of them are 3/8 swim jigs, what I mainly throw.

No labels on my jigs. Takes all the skill out of it.😄

I use a Bass Mafia Deep crankbait box that I had laying around . I leave them in the package until I get ready to use them so I know what they are. The used ones get tossed in front of the console .

I go through them once in a while.

I make up 2 or 3 jigs and trailers and put them in my pocket or a cup holder so when one gets hung, which is going to happen on Table Rock, I can just retie in stead of opening the lid and looking  around . I like the looks of the plano jig box but for me that organization might last a day.

I  have 2 (really 3) boxes of Jigs.

Box labels

"Standard Jigs"

"Small Jigs"

"Deep Jigs"

on the inside I run tape on the lid from left to right to correspond with the rows and mark with a marker where the dividers are. In each box of tape I write the make, style and color. Too many times I've had a good lure and ran out and couldnt remember what it was.

This is my standard practice with all my lures with the exception of hard swimbaits....those stay in the boxes they came in for now.

I have a label printer and label the outside of all my boxes, but no way I am organized enough to keep them straight inside the box.

I use a Plano Elite spinnerbait box to hold my jigs that has three rows, left is various regular jigs, middle row is swim jigs and right side is vibrating jigs.

My boxes are labeled Hair Jigs, Jigs and finesse jigs. I do short the jigs in each box by color, no need to label them. I also have zip lock bags of spare jigs and often put a few in a bag in lieu of carry the heavy boxes.

I use 5 colors;

Anytiime Anywhere, black-purple-brown

Summer craw, black-green-brown

Midnight, Black-blue

Shad, dark green-chartreuse-white

Fritz, brown-chartuese-red

The above covers everything I need.

Finesse jigs are mostly darts, mushroom and ball heads shorted by weight.

I have one box, and just pile them in. I like to live life on the edge. I try to stack them by type, like brush jigs separate from swim, but that's about it.

Yes, I group them by wt. then style, and then colour

I do the same. If I put them back in the wrong spot I can tell by comparing one to another what's what eventually.

I have 3 jig boxes and they're all labeled. 1 says "Big Jigs", one says "Small Jigs", and the other is "Kayak Jig box". There's probably 300 jigs between the 3 boxes.

I have a 370 box and a 360 box for my jigs.  I have them organized by weigh and color.

I separate them according to style (football, swim, arkie, etc.). I use a fine tip Sharpie to mark the weight and place them in the box with the lightest in front, and the heaviest closest to the hinges.

I only use a few brands of jigs and I can tell which brand they are by their style of keeper, or rattles. I also keep extras on a peg board and when I take the last one from the board, I reorder.

I separate my swim jigs and bottom contact jigs. But almost all of my jigs are 3/8-1/2oz SK pro models with a couple of heavier footballs mixed in. A 1/8oz difference on a jig isn’t enough for me to go through the trouble of labeling and sorting lol
