Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 16, 2024 Global Moderator Posted January 16, 2024 Hahahahahaha, remaining pretty bored so far, may go shovel the driveway again. I don’t think many roads are passable , I’ve heard of several highways/interstates being closed by DOT. Everybody is just walking around 😂 several folks attempted driving and some did fine, lots did not. My buddy got behind a Harley yesterday that was just gunning the throttle and barely moving forward for quite a ways Quote
greentrout Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 MS Gulf Coast getting temps in the 20's. Tomorrow low 20's. Home pipes could be vulnerable to get damage from freezing. We don't see this kind of weather often. Quote

Super User casts_by_fly Posted January 16, 2024 Super User Posted January 16, 2024 much to my surprise, the snow has hit us a little earlier and harder than expected here. We got a couple inches overnight and its still coming, though its the thin wispy snow that takes a while to accumulate. Regardless, its nice that everything is covered without being a disaster on the roads. Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted January 16, 2024 Super User Posted January 16, 2024 Like many of us, north central Missouri is frozen. Right now temp is -7. Snow yesterday added to what we had already. Dangerous wind chills also. I'm tired of it already... 1 1 Quote

Super User gim Posted January 16, 2024 Author Super User Posted January 16, 2024 What are they barking at? The wind? 😂 Or should I say howling in the case of the beagle. Howling at the moon during daytime? Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 16, 2024 Global Moderator Posted January 16, 2024 @gimruis, we live on a popular trail system so usually it’s someone walking their dogs by our fence to get up to the trails. But it’s definitely a wild card, I swear Bo can smell a storm coming and he will start barking at it 2 hours ago, MN Fisher said: With a beagle or basset, you never know... Ironically we believe that creature to be a beagle/basset cross it’s supposed to remain cold down this way , I’ve heard of more single digits coming and maybe an ice storm Thursday. Low of 4 and 13 over the weekend 2 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 We’re getting hammered on up here right now. Guess old ma nature is making up for the absolute total lack of winter we had up until about a week ago. Big ole snow squalls coming off Georgian Bay, like giant conveyor belts of snow that just keep dumping, and dumping and dumping… Those big green and yellow streaks on the map are supposed to keep rolling until Thursday at least. There’s close to 2’ on the ground now, at least it’s fluffy stuff so it’s easy to clear, and it’ll melt down a fair bit when it warms up again. 4 Quote
Super User Koz Posted January 17, 2024 Super User Posted January 17, 2024 I know it doesn't compare to the sub zero temperatures that a lot of you are facing, but we've got temperatures dipping into the teens and wind chills in the single digits. The good news, for us, is that by the last weekend in the month we're going to see temperatures in the 70's. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 17, 2024 Global Moderator Posted January 17, 2024 not often you see a negative temp here Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 17, 2024 Super User Posted January 17, 2024 It could be worse: •Buffalo, New York, drivers face snowy commute: Lake effect snow warnings are in effect in Buffalo until Thursday night. The surrounding area could see 1 to 3 feet of localized snowfall and wind gusts up to 40 mph. “Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commutes,” the weather service warned. Quote

Way north bass guy Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 The new toy is finally getting a good workout around here. Cleared about 14” this morning before work, and when I got home there’s another 10” ready to blow again. Still more squalls coming all this evening and into tomorrow, so I’m just gonna wait till it’s all over and deal with it tomorrow night. Sure is a lot nicer sitting up on the tractor, instead of pushing a walk behind blower ( that’s about a third of the width of the tractor too). 7 1 Quote

The original owner had a couple horses, we don’t have any big animals so it’s been turned into my workshop. The bottom walls and ceiling are insulated so it stays nice and warm in the winter, and keeps cool even in the hottest days of summer. It’s a pretty nice place to hang out, even if there isn’t any actual “work” that needs done 😄. 1 Quote
