Super User gim Posted October 31, 2023 Super User Posted October 31, 2023 The calendar still says fall but the weather says winter this morning. About a good inch on the ground over night here. Some trees still have leaves too. Happy Halloween! 5 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted October 31, 2023 Super User Posted October 31, 2023 Ya - about an inch down by the lake as well...at least it's not like '91. 1 1 Quote

I had so much fun - we'd planned a system change-over for that weekend (I was in IT) and it couldn't be put off....so I had to drive into work all three days. Lake Minnetonka area to NE Minneapolis (University Ave/St Anthony Pkwy area)...in a RWD Sedan. 1 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Started here today. The real pain in the butt is that I had the boat all loaded up last night with tools, ready to go do a small job at a cottage out on Georgian Bay today. Guess I’ll wait a few days till stuff melts. I know this isn’t gonna stick around yet, and I only need about three days to get this job done, but man I wish I didn't have to see it yet. 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 2, 2023 Global Moderator Posted November 2, 2023 Windshield was frozen this morning, I was wondering why my hands were so cold fishing last night. The SMB are about to go hog wild Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted November 2, 2023 Super User Posted November 2, 2023 While we may not get an annual snowmageddon, we were predicted to get our first hard freeze, so I had to do my winter plant movement. We have always had a large plant collection on our decks and a couple are beyond just picking up and carrying into the house. We have an avacado tree that my daughter sprouted from seed and planted when she was 4 years old. She’s 26 now. There’s a corn plant that is 10ft tall and probably 150lbs that’s well over 30 years old that my wife has tried to kill multiple times. Both require a moving dolly to get into the house and maneuvered through the house without taking out lamps, tables and all sorts of indoor treasures. I make sure the wife is not home so the endless profanities can roll off my tongue. Pics are of the corn and avocado. We had a Ficus that was as old as the corn plant but finally got so big it wouldn’t fit in the house anymore. Rather than let it freeze, we donated it to my daughters greenhouse at her high school. 4 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted November 2, 2023 Global Moderator Posted November 2, 2023 Tuesday we didn’t get much snow. Muskegon which is 45-50 NW of me and along the lakeshore received 9” and some areas as much as 11”. Halloween was cancelled due to downed trees and power lines some of which are still without power. Yesterday morning was 23* here. 🥶🥶 1 1 Quote

Super User T-Billy Posted November 3, 2023 Super User Posted November 3, 2023 I always enjoyed the snow, until I started driving a crude tanker for a living in 2017. Hauling 8000 gallons of liquid that can be ignited with just a static spark, up and down steep, narrow backroads changes your whole perspective on the stuff. #KEEPTHEDIRTYSIDEDOWN!!! 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 3, 2023 Global Moderator Posted November 3, 2023 Everyone still saying it skipped fall, they just can’t help it. We’ve had a solid month of glorious fall already 😂 Quote
Super User gim Posted November 3, 2023 Author Super User Posted November 3, 2023 Fall was about a month long here. We went from almost 90 degrees the first week of October to an inch of snow on Monday night. Luckily all the snow pretty melted already and I am now seeing plenty of 40's in the forecast which is very much to my liking for hunting season. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 3, 2023 Global Moderator Posted November 3, 2023 That’s what happens here to an extent, one hot day then cold and people automatically forget the 20-30 days leading up to one hot day or weekend perception vs reality perception of old people in Hardee’s in east TN: 7 months of summer and 5 months of winter reality: 4 months of fall, 1 month of spring, 6.5 months of summer and a few days of winter 1 Quote
