Super User Munkin Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 Wondering what everyone's favorite Keitech swim bait colors are? I am working on a jighead for fishing small Keitech swim baits and want to paint them to match. Problem is there are so many colors so I would like to figure out the 5 or 6 most popular colors to start with. Allen Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 Allen I catch most of mine on sight flash, Tennessee shad, blue chartreuse, sun gill and smallmouth magic. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 AYU & PERCH are my top producers and have been for a while When it comes to jig head colors, do well with whatever color a plain tungsten head is as well as just black. This Ayu color/pattern by Dobyns matches well with the above baits and most of the other 'natural colors I fish for brown bass here. A-Jay 3 Quote
MeatHead1313 Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Sight flash for bass and crappie. Chartreuse flash for inshore redfish and speckled trout. Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 Rainbow Shad, Super Shad, Light Hitch, and Ayu worked in Missouri Quote
Super User webertime Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 I predict literally every color will be mentioned in this thread. Pro Staff Special. 2 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 Ayu and smallmouth magic are my usuals. I carry chartreuse over white and white with sparkle (sight flash maybe?). I think white, black, chartreuse, and then any dark over light color you want for the heads. Quote

Super User Jig Man Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 What method will you be using to paint them? Quote
GrumpyOlPhartte Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Yesterday (Oct 27) I did reasonably well with four-inch Sexy Shad here in western MA. 1 Quote
Big Rick Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 These choices are often relegated to the forage available in the regions each of us fish. Down south my number one color is Copperfield: And a close second to Bluegill Flash: Since most of these options are darker on top and lighter on bottom you could get away with a general color selection for the heads to match multiple baits, IMO. JackstrawIII Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 1. Green pumpkin shad 2. Bluegill flash 3. Alewife Quote

Super User Munkin Posted October 30, 2023 Author Super User Posted October 30, 2023 Looks like I can cover several with: Gray over white White over metallic silver Dark green over pearl white Green pumkin Solid white Chartreuse over white Looking at TW's site Keitech makes 80 colors so there is no way I can cover all of those. GetFishorDieTryin Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 That's a hard question, they have so many great colors and just came out with some new 1s that look great but I haven't tried yet. Bluegill Flash and Electric Shad are tied for first place as they're almost interchangeable Gizzard Shad and pro blue red pearl are my go tos for a white or pearl base A lot of the fish here especially bass have a pearltruese tint and Ayu represents that really well. Super User Jig Man Posted October 30, 2023 Super User Posted October 30, 2023 So far I am limiting myself to 3 head colors; chartreuse over white, gray over white and gray. Quote
txchaser Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 BLUF - white, natural, green or unpainted -something stock white to match pearl and other really white -something like a mouse, more subtle white with a two-tone, to match bluegill flash (which is a shad color) and other more natural colors. A stark white head on a natural body is a no from me -something green to match GP, GP/watermelon, sungill, etc. Unpainted works just fine here IMO. -put gill and shad sized eyes on them not these wee little eyes that so many makers use 1 Quote

Big Hands Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 My top 3 Keitech colors in exact order of preference (for literally every bait I have tried from them): 1) Electric Shad 2) Electric Shad 3) Electric Shad I have done OK with other colors from them, but IME and where I fish, Electric Shad outproduces them all. . . . every time. Other Keitech Colors I have used: Bluegill Flash Pro Blue Red Pearl Sight Flash Alewife Rainbow Shad June Bug Green Pumpkin Shad Smallmouth Magic Tennessee Shad Baits from them that I have used: Swing Impact Fat Swing Impact Easy Shiner Sexy Impact Shad Impact These have all produced well. I use them mostly for Carolina Rig, and with Flashy Swimmers, and occasionally with a dropshot. Quote
Deebo Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Bluegill flash and sungill here. Sungill on a white spinnerbait works great oddly Quote
