Super User slonezp Posted October 28, 2023 Super User Posted October 28, 2023 The one thing the article doesn't mention, are the pike minnows an invasive species, or just unwanted. This would be a hell of a part time job if I lived in OR. https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/oregon-fisherman-earns-100k-removing-unwanted-species-found-states-rivers 2 Quote

pdxfisher Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Pikieminnows are a native species. The dams give them a predatory advantage so the power companies fund a bounty on them as part of a mitigation of the impact of dams on salmon. The guys who make serious money go through a grueling effort to do so. I don't participate since I am not in support of killing a native species but I don't begrudge those who try to make some money. 2 Quote
MassBass Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 So you have poor salmon returns, even worse Steelhead runs, and then you remove the Pike minnow, in some streams you will have nothing. Quote
