Hey y’all,

My Mom is not proficient with a baitcaster but she wants another spinning rod. She will fish “Ol Muddy” most of the time which is a small muddy pond with quite a bit of timber and quality bass (most are 5-6lbs). She fishes from the bank and I told her it is probably a good idea to have a rod that’s short so it’s easy to manuever from the bank. I also told her that it’d be a good idea to get a rod with some power to it because the fish pull hard and there is lots of timber. So, I arrived at 6’6” MH as a suggestion for her. Trouble is, I can’t really find a nice rod with these specs. She likes to throw senkos mostly and we run 20lb braid to 15lb big game leader most of the time. I’m wondering if you gentlemen wouldn’t mind helping me find a suitable rod. $150 +/- $50 Thank you 🙏

I have the BPS Carbonlite in 6'6" mh/f.  It has some backbone to it.

I've had two of their Aetos 6'8" MH/XF spinning rods for about 7 years now, thrown everything from senkos, underspins, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, lipless, buzzbaits, whopper ploppers, you name it. Caught bass, snapper, redfish, black drum, trout, etc on them.

I’m going to second @Bankbeater’s suggestion for the carbonlite 2.0. Although mine was a casting rod it was and will be light in hand plenty sensitive and well built with a comfortable Wynn grip that is tacky even when wet/slimy (muddy) and comes with a good warranty. I will also say for the price I agree with @PhishLI although I don’t own a sg1 rod I have a couple Lews Carbon Fire and Hank Parker signature series rods and for the price they are built above their price point in my opinion.
