zver Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Hey folks, I've finally lost my good ol' rapala rod (which I loved by the way) and am looking to buy something new. I'd prefer a rod sized about 5'6 for ultra light fishing (I usually go for smaller pikes, sunfish, etc). Would appreciate it if you gave me some hints as to which set ups (rod and reel) are the most popular (budget is about 150 dollars for rod+reel). Thanks in advance. Quote
RiskKid. Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Welcome to the forum....you've come to the right place. I would get a St Croix Premier Rod and a Shimano Sahara reel. Should be right within your budget. Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 2, 2006 Super User Posted November 2, 2006 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rod and reel riskkid mentioned would be a great set up for you. Quote
zver Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 Thank you all for your replies. I did hear a few rumors about st croix rods and I was hoping you'd prove them to be false. Some people say that they break too often, true or false? That is one sweet reel and rod combo by the way, thanks riskkid. Also, what do you think of shimano compre CPS56ULB 5'6"? Looked really good and it has many little guides like my old rapala rod. Thanks Quote
mike bat Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 st croix are killer rods and if you dare to try one you will be supprised ;D Quote
