Medic165 Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 My wife and I are going to the Davenport Florida in the middle of January. We're taking our boat with us and want to do some fishing. Which lake(s) would be best? I've read that Toho is great for bass. I've also heard they have water level issues on Toho. So what are some other places to go within an hour or so of the Davenport area? Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 22, 2023 Super User Posted October 22, 2023 Check out Headwaters next to Stickmarsh. It's the hottest lake going right now in south central FL. 3 Quote

crypt Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Kissimee chain is always a great place to start. Also Tenoroc wildlife management area is great. As always Stick Marsh/Headwaters will be the place to be. Can't go wrong that time of year to be here. Don't forget about Okeechobee, always a great place. 3 Quote
Zcoker Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Headwaters is a given but that place can be a learning curve for most guys used to lake fishing unless using a guide service. It's more marsh style fishing, very shallow and LOADED with weeds. If that's your cup of tea, then it's defiantly a good choice. Lotta other nice lakes out there, too. And If I were gunning for any if them right now, my sites would be on lake Placid. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted October 23, 2023 Global Moderator Posted October 23, 2023 @Zcoker Totally agree! Going back to Placid later this week. I have no illusions of repeating my last trip there last week, but unlocking that lake even more is getting the juices flowing. Mike 1 Quote
Zcoker Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Glad you did well there. Hope you do well again. Placid is a very on and off sort of lake...but when it's on, it's on like no other! 1 Quote
