I’m planning on getting a medium fast baitcasting rod for senkos, flukes, and jerkbaits. I’m torn between a Shimano Curado or a Daiwa Tatula XT. Any suggestions?

If you can feel them both in hand, one of the two will feel better for you.  Both are good reels and will do the job.  I lean shimano over diawa, but have no problems with my zillion and swapping back and forth.  The Shimano just fits my hands a little better.

He's looking at RODS, not a reel. Lol

The Tatula XT is a $100 rod and the curado is 170. You would be better off getting a daiwa tatula rod, not the xt model, or the tatula elite. I really love my tatulas and tatula elites - I can't speak on the curado line but Shimano usually puts out a good product. Either way you go, unless you can compare them in person, you will most likely be happy.

I have three of the Daiwa Tatulas, two spinning and one casting. I haven’t tried the XTs. The ones I have cost about $150 each. Yet, they don’t have a medium fast casting rod that’s around 7ft. That’s why I thought of the XT. I have a Daiwa Aird-x, not sure how it compares with the XT.

Don't have the XT rod, but do have a MH Aird X and a MH Rebellion. Very impressed with both rods. Really liking Daiwa rods so far.

I guess I have reels on the brain. I’m looking at a bantam myself right now. I think I read that he was getting a new rod and thought he was looking for a reel to go on it.

The 7’ Med. Reg. action Tatula is a really nice stick and super versatile. I don’t know how familiar you are with “regular” actions but I would call them about a Mod-Fast action. I’ve thrown senkos and flukes on that rod with great success. Never tried a jerkbait with it so I can’t comment on that application but unless you’re dead set on a fast action I would definitely recommend the regular tatula.

I would try to stretch it and get a Zodias, nice actions.

This^^^. American Legacy has a ton of "used" Zodias's for sale that are mint or excellent condition. I bought a mint one not long ago for $140. The Zodias's are great

I would look at the Tatula not the XT as a comparison to the Curado. It's a really nice rod and own several Tatulas myself so I can confidantally recommend them but the new Curados are also really nice rods so I don't think you're going to be disappointed either way.
