I just purchased a new Shimano Calcutta 251 for a really good price (out of respect for the store I will not say how much I stole this real for).  Anyway, it did not come with box or instructions.  I contacted Shimano and they emailed me a schematic.

Is their anyone else owns one of these?  Is it a good reel?  Any info would be great.

I can't wait to test it out.  I have used an old Abu Garcia that looks similar to this real years ago but I have been using the new style, low profile baitcasters.  Is their a major difference between the old styles and the new?  Will I need to fish/cast it differently?

Thanks again for all the info.

My dad has a whole fleet of Calcuttas and believe me, they are sweet. Smooooottth! This reel is a huge step up from the older Abu Garcia you mentioned so take comfort in the investment you've made. Congratulations on getting a great deal on it.

I have a dozen Shimanos and 3 of them are Calcuttas. If it starts with Shimano and ends with Calcutta you cannot go wrong. ENJOY!
