I've been using hi-viz yellow braid with a fluro leader on my spinning gear simply so I can see the line.  Last week I had a giant bass wrap up in a laydown and break off at the palomar knot at the hook. FG braid to fluro knot held fine. I was thinking about going to moss green braid for a leader.  Interested to hear your thoughts on this. Good idea? Bad idea? What connector knot should I use if this is a feasible idea? Thanks in advance.

Instead of using a leader I’d just take a black marker to your last 6 foot or so of line

Uni to Uni is a strong simple to tie braid to braid knot. A Bimini on each end connected with a cats pawl, is a common connection for braid to braid for saltwater fishing.

I'd ditch the palomar first.  Having swapped to the double pitzen now its a better knot.  Ties faster and more reliably.  Stronger.  Only downside is that you lose more line per knot tied, though not much different to a palomar.

If you want to go all braid, then just use the sharpie as noted above.

I have been using a Blood Knot to join lines to leader for years.   It runs through the guides better and it doesn't break.

I tie a blood knot on the water - for me I can do it with my eyes closed and it has never failed me.

I have broken off jigs and all sorts of things and the blood knot has never failed.

I have been using the carrot knot all year long and I have only had one break, which was my fault for letting it go for months without retieing.

Also, skip the FG. Try the San Diego jam knot.

Keep the FG and change to San Diego Jam to hook/bait

The only reasons I use a leader are for abrasion resistance and stretch/shock absorption, neither of which are things I would use braid for. I would ditch the leader and use the suggested sharpie method if you're going to do straight braid, it will be stronger than introducing another knot into the system. But if you're around laydowns and other structure/cover that the bass can rub against, sticking with a mono/fluoro leader is the move personally.

Not landing that a Giant Bass, while always a bummer, might have more to do with your overall tackle selection than what knot was used.  I use spinning gear and a FC leader all the time to land stout brown bass.  However I'm almost always in mostly open water.

When targeting giant largemouth in the immediate vicinity of hard or soft cover,

I try to match my tackle to the biggest fish I hope to catch.

Rarely does that happen with spinning gear for me.

I am often over gunned for most every small fish I might catch,

however I stand a much better chance of landing 'The One' I'm really looking for.

Finally, while I effectively use a uni-to uni for leader connections and have been for a long time,

there are several connection knots that 'work' well.

Especially when connecting lures to line / tackle with the horse power to help keep that big girl from getting into that laydown in the first place.

Good Luck.

For years I have used the Lefty Kreh braid-to-leader knot, but recently I have been using the 832 Camo braid with no leader and I have not noticed a difference. I do back off one power on my rod unless I am using frogs or punching.

Ditch the leader

Exactly. I’m not a leader guy. Maybe some day once I become a little longer in the tooth I’ll ad a FC leader, but for now just straight braids or FC.
