Zillion Broken Piece - What is This?

Hey yall, noticed my Zillion sounding a bit louder so I figured I'd oil her up. Then I noticed this white washer looking thing was busted in the spool.

 

Can I keep using it? Do I really gotta deal with a warranty that might cost me more in shipping and insurance than the part is worth, especially if I can ignore it.

The inductor (orange ring) could get pulled in to the magnet and you'd have one heck of a backlash.   That's the worst thing that could happen.

It looks like that is part of the flange on part 27 that keeps the inductor and ramps seated in the spool, under spring pressure from part 28. Looks like part of the flange is broken off. Don't know how that would even happen.

 

I wouldn't think there would be much chance the rest would break off, but if it did, it doesn't look like there is anything else to stop the whole assembly moving towards the brake magnets.

 

If that were to happen, I don't know if there would be anything keeping your spool controlled and you may get a bad backlash as mentioned above. The bigger issue might be the inductor spinning into the magnet at high rpms and possibly causing damage, but can't say for sure.

You should be ok temporarily but prompt repair is always the best course of action to avoid complicating matters

It seems like you're not the only one who has problem with that part. Since the original part is made of plastic that is prone to breakage in hard casting, third-party companies have already made metal replacement of it:
