Will Ketchum Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 I do. I kill about 1/2 dozen in the backyard every day. You have to be quick because they see it coming. They are an invasive species from China and Vietnam. They don't seem to be extremely harmful, but being invasive they might. This is the first year I have seen them. Quote

At my last house 6 miles away, where I lived for 10 years, I had a lot of box elder bugs. Interestingly, I don't have box elders at this house where I live now. Just these bigger brown things. 1 Quote

They get into everything! All the gas pumps here have them inside the glass where the numbers are spinning . If I leave a tarp outside there’s millions of them in the folds. The worst is the grill cover, I just gave up putting it on 1 2 Quote

The worst is the grill cover, I just gave up putting it on at my in-laws in western pa they had stink bugs for years really bad. They live in an old converted hunting cabin that’s wood construction and not exactly air tight. They would get dozens in the house every day. just remember- don’t crush them m they are called stink bugs for a reason. 8 hours ago, Will Ketchum said: I do. This year was far better, maybe because we didn’t have the long heat like last year, maybe because we had that really hard freeze in December. In the past two weeks I’ve had a bunch pop up here, but still nothing like last year. 2 Quote

This is the first year I have seen them. I drive a crude tanker in SE OH, the WV panhandle, and western PA. We got a request from the PA DNR a few years ago to check our trucks for them before leaving a well pad and report any sightings. I never saw one until last week. I killed 28 of them while loading on a pad near Racoon State Park last week. I did a quick online search and found they're pretty widespread thoughout the midwest now, so I didn't bother reporting them. That cat's out of the bag. 1 Quote
