Perfect fall fishing weather is here, and lovely wife Melody and I have both come down with Covid. So far it seems to be a mild case, but we both feel like crap. The biggest problem is the fatigue. It pretty much takes all our energy just to do the absolute necessities for the day. We are both on medication for it and hope the symptoms don't get much worse. It will be awhile before I can get back out there fishing. Right now my main priority is taking care of Mel.

We had managed to avoid Covid up until now. I guess you can only dodge the bullet for so long.

Hello Kirtley,

I myself had thought I had gotten past it. I got Covid in the beginning of August. It was a mild case and I had the blahs for about four days. I have had the Moderna vaccine in 2021 and boosted in mid-22.

I got a prescription for Paxlovid and took the five days of horse pills regime. I had no shortness of breath, a very light cough and not much appetite. I drank a lot of water and had light food for several days. By day six I was pretty much back to normal. I hope you and Melody get well quickly.

If your not already, start taking a quality vitamin D. It helps.

Hope you both just have Mild version, get well soon.

I hope it doesn’t get any worse.
Mrs Mike had it last year and it absolutely knocked her down.

Scared the hell out of me.

Take care of yourselves

I know where you are.  My wife and I went on a vacation to Colorado and caught it 2 weeks ago.  We took Paxlovid and quarantined for 10 days.  We are over the symptoms but have very little energy.

Wishing you both a safe and speedy recovery.

I’ve had it twice . The first go round was brutal. Lots of pain in my eyes. The fever just kept coming back higher and higher . A couple of years later and my sense of taste and smell still come and go and my memory has gone to crap . Hopefully none of that happens to you or your wife. Wishing you the best.

Thanks for all the well wishes.  My symptoms have eased some, but Melody is still pretty sick. At this point I don't feel very sick (not that I feel good), but my energy is still pretty low, though it seems to be getting better. Mel is a trooper, and keeps wanting to "take care of me" even though I am less sick than she is. I keep having to tell her to take it easy and let me do the cooking and such. We will survive. If I have to be isolated to the house, I am glad it is with Melody.

I have yet to get it but the wife has had it twice.  Both of us vaxed and boosted.  The most recent was the worst for her, lost taste and smell, fever, fatigue and cough.  I was tippy toeing around here trying to lessen my chances of picking it up which included sleeping in the guest room.  I managed to avoid it once again and the wife read an article that claimed those with O+ blood type were less inclined to get it.  That’s me.  One thing I had to do was go grocery shopping which is something I never really do other than stopping into pick up 1 or 2 things.  The wife has a system where she goes to the local Giant grocery store, Wegmans, Walmart and BJ’s for the best prices.  She made a small grocery list and I just went to Giant because I’m lazy and holy cow…..2 plastic bags of staples, meaning not a lot of meat or more expensive items, was $109.00.  I’m more in tune with fuel prices but not groceries.  That kinda drove it home.  Get well soon.  Rest hydrate and recoup.

Thanks.

We are getting better. I have pretty much recovered except for being tired all the time. Not much stamina but that seems to be improving.

Mel has it worse. She lost her sense of taste and smell and has been coughing and still has the body aches and pains. She has gotten a bit better, but she is recovering more slowly than I did.

Yesterday I did a grocery store run....just ordered what we had to have on-line and did the curbside pick-up at the local Price Chopper grocery store. I really prefer to pick out my own stuff but that service is nice when you feel like crap and may still be contagious. We are basically just going to act like hermits for another week or so.

Biggest thing I miss is that the fall weather has finally arrived and fishing should be great right now, and I just can't deal with going fishing. Bummer.
