ghost Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 I have a 22 Aldeberan BFS on order from Japan. I normally use 15 lb, 4 lb diameter Power Pro original on most of of my BFS reels. In regards to the 22 Aldeberan BFS, am I able to still use the same braid line I've been always used? Or is there a braid line and line weight that would work better than what I am using for that reel? Quote
The Bassman Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 When I was playing with BFS I liked 10# PP Super Slick. It's about .15 mm. It doesn't take much to clean those spools so 15 is pushing it. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 3, 2023 Super User Posted October 3, 2023 I have liked FC better on this reel. I have been using 5lb Sunline Invisible. It's really strong despite how thin it is. Quote
waymont Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 I've been using 8lb original power pro on my BFS reels: Daiwa Alphas Air TW. Works like a dream. Quote

ghost Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 Thanks y'all! I went with Power Pro Super Slick 8 V2 in 10 lb, 2 lb diameter lime/aqua green color. Broke in the new Aldeberan BFS reel this evening, mounted on my Phenix Classic BFS 6'8" rod. The new Aldebaran BFS reel did a great job fighting and reeling in both bass. The drag clicker was singing away as line was pulled from those bass. I think I prefer having a drag clicker for BFS reels. Caught a couple bass with a BPS The Egg, running just under the surface over grass. The PP Super Slick 8 V2 line is wonderful! Very smooth and quiet through the guides and just as strong and no stretch as original PP. Very happy with my braid choice. I may get 12lb Sunline Siglon in orange sometime soon for backup. 1 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted October 5, 2023 Super User Posted October 5, 2023 I'm a straight braid fan for most of my fishing, but for BFS 4# YZH is how I roll. Quote
