Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 28, 2023 Super User Posted September 28, 2023 By now @thediscochef and @TnRiver46 can probably attest that I go back and forth and back and forth between liking mono and fluoro. I really like both and I will always use both. Here’s what I will say. Out of fluorocarbon that I have tried, this is hands down my favorite. Hence why I purchased a bulk spool. 4 Quote
The Baron Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 What attributes earned FC Sniper top spot for you? I’ve only tried a few different fluorocarbon lines as a main line and have struggled to like it. This year I tried Spro Gouken and am liking the 14# enough that I’ll definitely respool the same for next year. It’s reasonably manageable, with good knot strength and I’m getting good hooksets. I also tried the 16# but I had an oopsie (my fault) and blew up my spool before I really got a chance to get familiar with the heavier version, but I’ll likely just stick with the 14#. I’m been using Suffix Advance Hyper Copoly 10# and 12# for treble hooked baits (topwater, jerk baits and cranks) and like it a lot. Very user friendly and performs very well for me on a baitcaster. 2 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 29, 2023 Author Super User Posted September 29, 2023 Just now, The Baron said: What attributes earned FC Sniper top spot for you? I mean, I don’t even know. It’s just all around good. It casts better than most fluoros I’ve tried, it holds up well to abrasion, it’s strong, really sensitive. The stuff is the bomb. 2 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 29, 2023 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 29, 2023 FC Sniper is good line. I've tried it and like it. I think there's a good following of folks here that like it. If you haven't tried Seaguar InvizX yet, test it out. If you like Sniper, you'll like InvizX too, possibly even more than Sniper. 7 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 29, 2023 Author Super User Posted September 29, 2023 @Glenn Invisx is also good line. I do like it. It comes the closest to Sniper in my rating. I do agree with you that folks that try one should try the other. They both are quality lines and offer different attributes. For me, for most applications that I use fluoro for, Sniper is the deal. There are, however, some uses that I could see myself using Invisx for over Sniper. I just haven’t fine tuned my equipment enough for that yet. P.S. I got my PB on 10lb invisx 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted September 29, 2023 Super User Posted September 29, 2023 I use Seaguar InvizX and Blue Label almost exclusively in the fluoro realm. I like Tatsu too but it’s a little steep in cost. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted September 29, 2023 Super User Posted September 29, 2023 InvizX is my primary FC Yo-Zuri Topknot isn't too shabby either - though that's primarily used as leader on spinning rigs. Pleasantly surprised with BasiX - got it on two reels and so far it's performed well. ^ Like my good pal - Tatsu is great....if you got the budget for it...my one reel of it was supplied by a gifting. 2 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 29, 2023 Super User Posted September 29, 2023 My favorite is Tatsu but I have tried several that have been great. Currently I have Sunline Sniper Invisible on more setups than anything else. I also like Sunline BMS, Seaguar Invizix, Seaguar Abrazix, and Sunline Shooter. I am getting ready to try Varivas AAA FC. I have high hopes for this one. Also, I have been using some Kastking and Runcl Coated Fluorocarbons. Both have been pretty good. No complaints yet and the price for both is great. Most FC I have tried have been pretty good but there are a few that I have crossed off my list.... Trilene 100% FC, Sufix Advance FC, P-line FC, Daiwa Samurai and Seaguar Red Label. There are probably more but these each have either failed, changed for the worse or did not hold up as well as I would have liked. 2 Quote
Mojo Bass Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 I too am fond of both lines although this season I’ve mainly just used sniper….. but they’re both quality lines I would recommend both to anyone 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted September 29, 2023 Global Moderator Posted September 29, 2023 As I said many times, except for 2 techniques every combo I use is either Sniper or Shooter and have been fir years. I’ve tried almost every other premium brand sold but kept coming back to Sunline. Tatsu is the best overall flouro you can buy, but the overall difference between the two isn’t enough to make a change. Mike 2 Quote
MeatHead1313 Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Sunline Sniper (both regular and BMS) has been my favourite so far. Handles great on my baitcasters. I have some Shimano Mastiff coming in today that I'm looking forward to trying. 2 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted September 29, 2023 Super User Posted September 29, 2023 Sunline makes a really good product, but I started with Seaguar first, and I’m not a big fan of constantly switching and testing stuff out. That’s what forums are for ? So I’m all InvizX and Tatsu, except when I can get my hands on some Toray every now and then. Between those few brand names, you really can’t go wrong. 2 Quote
Big Swimbait Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Tatsu for me because I am braid to leader and a spool lasts forever using 7-10 yards at a time. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted September 30, 2023 Super User Posted September 30, 2023 I prefer Tatsu and yes it is too expensive. So I buy it in bulk spools when on sale and it lasts long enough that I forget the sting of the purchase. 2 Quote
Jmurphy87 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 I either use sniper or daiwa j fluorocarbon hidden concept. I have tried a lot of them though the years. Started with good ol red label, then moved to sniper, invis x, abraz x, sunline super, sunline crank. I then just went back to sniper, I really want to try tatsu but nobody locally carries it for some reason. 2 Quote

Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted October 1, 2023 Super User Posted October 1, 2023 Tried so many as I'm a huge fan and user of Fluoro.....and have yet to find a perfect or favorite one. I have Sniper 16 & 20lb/Invizx 8lb/J Samurai Hidden Concept 12lb being used the most, but Shooter is about to get added into the mix at some point most likely as I'm just not in love with Sniper's abrasion resistance, and knot tying is a chore. Sniper is very much like Invizx to me, very supple, strong line in open water, but can chaff up faster than other high end offerings if fishing around heavy cover. Can't trust red label due to its propensity to break at the least little kink in the line and knot tying is a pita, PLine is fantastic, but it's diameter per lb test eats up JDM spools. Tatsu is the king, but my wallet isn't king sized. There are a ton of other obscure high end JDM brands as well, most of them are uber expensive, but fantastic in usage. I buy them on clearance at my local high end store....still the cost of Sniper or Invizx. Fluoro is a whole rabbit hole I've found, there isn't a do it all brand imho. Quote
LonnieP Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 P-Line Tactical and Daiwa J Fluoro work great for me. Tried Tatsu a while back and liked it, but didn’t see enough difference between it and the other 2 lines to justify the added cost. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted October 2, 2023 Super User Posted October 2, 2023 My Casting reel mainline and spinning reel leader line needs are covered nicely with this. A-Jay 3 Quote
thediscochef Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 I hardly use it for anything but leader, but I like the pline tactical, shooter FC, and yozuri topknot. some differently priced options for different settings. Anymore though I just use the sufix tritanium and call it a day unless I'm using line smaller than 14# 1 Quote
ShyBass Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 Since no one's mentioned it, daiwa samurai j fluoro is great. Made the switch from abraz x and haven't looked back. 1 Quote

Seems like I can get 10-20% more distance on casts, and since I love throwing the 110jrs, it really translates to money well spent. 1 Quote
