Kirtley Howe Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Got to the river at about 4pm today. Fished until 7:30pm. In that time, I caught NO fish. I did, however, loose both of my chatterbait lures, my best spinnerbait, one swimming jig, and one conventional jig. And 2 crankbaits. Kind of an expensive day with zero results. Gonna' have to save my pennies so I can stock up on lures again. Total bummer..... 5 Quote

Super User gim Posted September 27, 2023 Super User Posted September 27, 2023 How did you manage to lose lures without even getting any bites? Snags? Quote

I was fishing a new section of river that I had never tried before. I found every snag and rock in the river, I think. And I am far to stubborn (or stupid) to give up easily. 2 2 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 27, 2023 Super User Posted September 27, 2023 I lost 5 flies I tie to toothy over zealous pickerel that had bad aim and each one takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. Three of them even bit through 20lb mono after I switched that to prevent bite offs...they had bad aim I guess. It is part of the game. 1 Quote

Zcoker Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Dang, that's a lot of hardware lost. Were you fishing from the bank or on the water? If on the water, might want to look into getting some kind of lure retrieval tool. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted September 27, 2023 Super User Posted September 27, 2023 The river overlords have accepted your sacrificial offerings and granted you permission to return to said waters again with promises of a more productive outing. So it is said; So shall it be! 9 Quote

I hiked in to a new section of river and was totally unprepared for the number of snags there. If it had not been so much effort just to get there, I would have quit after loosing the chatterbaits.... 6 hours ago, Team9nine said: The river overlords have accepted your sacrificial offerings and granted you permission to return to said waters again with promises of a more productive outing. Super User Bankbeater Posted October 1, 2023 Super User Posted October 1, 2023 I've had days where I've lost a bunch of baits. Makes me glad to get home and do some chores. 1 Quote
